The ASY540 chiller: a ‘milestone achievement’

Zamil Air Conditioners (ZAC), a business unit of Zamil Industrial Investment Company (ZIIC) and the leading international manufacturer of air conditioning systems in the Middle East, has announced the launch of two new series of Modular Condensing Units, as well as completion of the longest customised chiller ever built in the company’s 33-year history.

These new product offerings are specifically designed to satisfy market demand for new HVAC solutions that provide maximum application flexibility and energy savings to the company’s growing customer base.
The new CAX (60Hz)/CAL (50Hz) and CDX (60Hz)/CDL (50Hz) series of air-cooled condensing units consist of several models ranging from 20 to 170 tonnes in cooling capacity.  “They use engineering excellence to provide comfort in air conditioning and efficiency in industrial cooling, along with a superior combination of energy savings, performance, application flexibility, ease of service and maintenance and the ability to withstand extreme ambient temperatures,” a ZAC spokesman said.
“These units, suitable for rooftop or ground-level installation, can be combined with a wide variety of evaporator coils and blower packages to provide quiet and dependable comfort.”
ZAC assures the quality, safety and comfort of these units by a range of standard features such as UL-listed electrical components and low-noise condenser fans with insulated motors for quiet comfort.
The new series of modular units utilise the environmentally friendly HFC-134a refrigerant, a singular compound form with proven, highly efficient thermodynamic properties. There will be no phase out or replacement costs for the life of the equipment.

New chiller
ZAC recently designed and built the longest ever chiller in the company’s history with a length of 17.5 m and 540 tonnes of cooling capacity. The new chiller (ASY 540) was custom-built for Saudi Aramco and tested at 52 degrees C (126 degrees F) ambient temperature.
The custom-built duplex air-cooled screw chiller consists of two combined modules and utilises the environmentally friendly refrigerant R134a. The massive unit offers the ultimate combination of energy-saving design and superior engineering features needed to fulfill the evolving requirements of specialised and heavy-duty industrial applications. It incorporates the newest advanced microprocessor controller to monitor analog and digital inputs and achieve precise control and protective functions of the unit, ensuring efficient and reliable operation at all times.
“We are delighted to announce the addition of these two new series of modular condensing units to the ZAC product lineup,” said Osama Bunyan, executive vice president, ZAC.  “They enhance our product range in this category and make our offerings more competitive over the existing series. The ASY540 chiller represents a milestone achievement in our ongoing efforts to provide specialised equipment for heavy industrial applications.”
ZAC was founded in 1974 as one of the first air conditioning businesses to be established in Saudi Arabia and today is a leading international manufacturer of air conditioning systems having advanced to Number 1 in the Middle East. It designs, manufactures, tests, markets and services a comprehensive range of air conditioning products, from compact room air conditioners and mini-splits to large-scale central air conditioners, chillers and air handling units for highly specialised commercial and industrial applications.  These products and services are marketed under various brand names – Classic, Cooline, Cool Care, Clima Tech, Kessler Clima Tech and Geoclima – depending on specific markets. ZAC’s factories are located in Dammam, Saudi Arabia and Italy.
ZAC is also involved in the production of branded air conditioners for several leading international manufacturers under Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements. It operates a joint venture between ZIIC and General Electric, called Middle East Air Conditioners Ltd (MEAC).
ZAC has been vigorously moving into newer markets, seeking strategic alliances and investing heavily in R&D.
It is one of four sector businesses of ZIIC, the others being Zamil Steel Industries, Zamil Glass Industries and Arabian Fiberglass Insulation Company.
