Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings, the regional leader in the design, construction, and commissioning of commercial and industrial buildings in the Middle East, has carved a niche for itself in Ras Al Khaimah through its involvement there.
The company is currently a very active player in the emirate with a number of projects underway across strategic sectors.
Its presence in RAK continues its success story in the Middle East region.
RAK is currently witnessing a resurgence across the heavy industry, property and tourism sectors and has attracted nearly 140 industrial ventures ranging from glass bottles and truck manufacturing plants to commodity and polystyrene factories with total foreign direct investment exceeding $1 billion over the past two years.
Business confidence has risen because of the government’s pro-business, pro-investment outlook and because of the infrastructure laid out for industries and labour- and tax-friendly policies.
Within RAK, Amana has provided comprehensive design-build solutions to several industrial, commercial and institutional projects, backed by in-house capabilities to develop a project from conception through construction until completion. Among the key projects undertaken at the RAK Free Zone and handed over by Amana are warehouses, office buildings, the business innovation centre and the headquarters for the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone Authority.
Projects it has executed outside the free zone include the showroom and service centre for Al Ghandi Motors, classrooms for the Higher Colleges of Technologies, the steel buildings manufacturing facility for Mabani Steel (Al Jazeera Al Hamra), the factory for Cladtech International and the showroom for Faisal Holdings.
Speaking about its RAK operations, Mohammed Kaoud, general manager of Amana Ras Al Khaimah, says that even as Amana has witnessed tremendous growth in the Middle East, “we are thrilled to be such a success in Ras Al Khaimah.”
“Our foray into RAK came within the context of our regional growth strategy and the impressive success here is a reflection of our expertise and prompt delivery schedules across the prestigious projects within the UAE and the region.”
He adds: “RAK is definitely a growing market for us as it is emerging as an important centre of business activity and we are keen to expand our presence in the emirate and there are a lot of plans in place with so many infrastructure projects coming up.”
Amana Contracting discussed some of its services. It says for design-build turnkey solutions, based on clients’ requirements and specifications, the company leverages its internal competencies and experiences to streamline project costs and provide a value engineered design. It obtains approvals from authorities and proceeds to complete the turnkey construction.
For turnkey construction it undertakes projects based on clients’ requirements as per pre-approved designs completed by a third-party engineering/design office.
The company designs steel buildings, also supplying and erecting the steel structures. This, it says, is typically done for large steel projects such as power plants and those with oilfield applications.
“With over 5,500 employees in seven countries, the company has constructed over 1,500 steel buildings to date. Its regional presence coupled with a decentralised structure gives it the unmatched ability to leverage a regional experience base while maintaining the speed and responsiveness of a local company,” says a company spokesman.
“This has allowed the company to build a reputation in delivering design-build solutions to extremely fast-track projects for such clients as the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), Abu Dhabi Oil Company (Adco), Schlumberger Middle East, Dubai Ports Authority, Enel Power (Doha), Qatar Petroleum Company, and Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company.
“With a proven record of focusing on customer requirements and consistently beating expectations, Amana’s serves various industries including agricultural/equestrian, automotive, food processing, institutional, logistics, manufa-cturing, medical, oilfields, power, water and retail.”
Amana has offices in 11 cities across seven countries – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and RAK in the UAE, Doha (Qatar), Kuwait City (Kuwait), Jeddah and Al Khobar (Saudi Arabia), Sohar Port (Oman), Cairo (Egypt) and Colombo (Sri Lanka). Its offices in the UAE are ISO-certified. Each office is independently run with capabilities to market, design, procure and construct projects on a full design-build basis.
“In a nutshell, Amana has made a mark in various infrastructure projects in the region with its quality delivery schedules and expertise. Now, with the backing of its executed projects in the region, the group is ideally positioned to take advantage of the new opportunities,” the spokesman concludes.
