The Hoist: Resistant to corrosion

Ingersoll Rand's new Palair Premium food grade air hoist is being promoted as equipment with a special corrosion-resistant design and one that is ideal for a range of food applications though it is particularly suited to handling meat and poultry products.

The hoist can be thoroughly washed and steam cleaned to maintain hygiene in the food environment. It is fitted with drain holes in the upper hoist body and lower hook block to aid draining after a wash down. With a lifting capacity range from 250 to 980kg, there is also a wide selection of Ingersoll-Rand food grade hoists covering many food-handling applications.

"All metal parts in the Palair Premium Food Grade Hoist are intrinsically corrosion resistant, being electroless nickel treated, nickel diffused or made of 316 stainless steel. The electroless nickel method is a high-heat chemical treatment of metals that provides high-wear durability and prevents the possibility of flaking," said the company.

Nickel diffusion is another patented nickel treatment used on Ingersoll-Rand's full-strength corrosion-resistant chains. 316 stainless steel is highly corrosion resistant and is used for load hooks, bottom blocks and load chains for models with these stainless steel options. A combination of stainless steel or electroless nickel hooks, hook blocks and nickel-diffused chain provides maximum spark and corrosion resistance in sensitive food processing areas.

"Non-metal parts in the hoist are also unpainted, so there is no chance of paint flaking and contaminating the food environment," said Ingersoll-Rand. In addition, the abrasion, heat and oil-resistant bright yellow pendant hose is highly visible and easy to clean. The gear-type motor inside the hoist requires no air supply lubrication, so exhaust air is as clean and dry as the air supplied. A stainless steel exhaust kit allows the exhaust air to be piped away from the application if necessary.

The gear-type motor has two moving parts (two gears) made from a high-strength, durable composite material that allows lube-free motor operation. This 'two-moving part' design provides high reliability and low maintenance even in 'dirty air' environments.

The hoist is also suited for a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, clean rooms, paint booths and textiles.
