Hadeed, which launched commercial production of its new flat steel plant last year, has a plan in place to expand the facility.

The plant, with a capacity of 850,000 tonnes, is designed to be capable of accommodating planned expansions that will raise the annual production capacity to 2 million tonnes of hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanised products.

The plan includes constructing an additional direct reduction module, an electric arc furnace, a ladle furnace, a steel slab casting machine, a slab reheating furnace and a finishing mill stand.

Various studies are being carried out by Sabic R&T on a regular basis to emphasise the merits of Hadeed's products and also in connection with process and product development and productivity improvement.
