Agility Project Logistics has joined hands with Transcar Projects Ltd to win the global shipping contract for two phases of the Pearl Gas to Liquids (GTL) in Ras Laffan, Qatar.
Agility Project Logistics is a specialised group within Agility, a leading global provider of integrated supply chain solutions. Transcar is one of Europe’s leading privately held project freight forwarders, managing general and project cargoes.
The Pearl GTL project, the worlds largest gas-to-liquid project, has been developed by Qatar Petroleum and Shell and will involve over 1 million freight tonnes of cargo lined up for its construction. The facility, once complete, will be equipped to produce 140,000 bpd of GTL products and approximately 120,000 bpd of condensate, liquefied petroleum gas and ethane.
Announcing their win, Danny Rushbrooke, managing director Europe for Agility Project Logistics, and Dean Rossiter, managing director for Transcar, emphasised the importance of the historic win for both companies. They said they would look forward to working hand in hand, leveraging their joint capabilities to ensure the successful completion of the massive contract.
Elaborating on the project, Gregory Rusovich, president of Agility Project Logistics, said: “It is a matter of great pride for us to have won the Pearl GTL global contract based in Qatar. Agility has over 20,000 employees across a network of 450 offices in 100 countries around the world. We are dedicated to offering customer-driven solutions to meet all their supply chain needs.
Meanwhile, Agility recently leased approximately 433,000 sq ft from AMB Property Corporation, a leading global developer and owner of industrial real estate at development projects in Houston, Amsterdam and Paris.
AMB has commenced development of a 240,000 sq ft build-to-suit facility for Agility in Houston. Named AMB IAH Airfreight 7, the development is proximate to Houston Intercontinental Airport and near the Port of Houston and will serve Agility’s Project Logistics division specialising in oil industry equipment transportation.
As part of the transaction, AMB has acquired the 66,000 sq ft facility which is currently occupied by Agility proximate to Houston Intercontinental Airport. AMB intends to re-lease the facility, named AMB Taft Distribution Center, upon Agility’s transfer to the AMB IAH Airfreight 7 build-to-suit.
