In less than 20 years, Saudi Electric Industries Co Ltd has advanced rapidly to become a leading manufacturer and supplier of cable support systems, cable glands, earthing and lightning protection systems and high-capacity copper bus bars.
Founded in 1990, Seico began its production initially with simple perforated cable trays, diversifying into other products from time to time that markets in the region and internationally have welcomed.
Among the items it makes are cable glands, cable cleats and exothermic welding products.
“In the pipeline are a few other products which are in the research and development stage,” a Seico spokesman says.
“All these developments were made to match the rapid growth in the industrial, oil and gas, power and petrochemical sectors. And in order to cater to huge projects requirements within short time spans, Seico increased its capacity by installing fully automated machines,” the spokesman added.
Today Seico is an ISO 9001-2000 company with a paid up capital of SR15 million and employing over 300 employees. It owns three factories in Jeddah and Dammam and uses state-of-the-art CNC and PLC-controlled machines and computerised and automated accounting and management systems.
Seico produces almost everything for cables.
The company gave a more detailed account of what it manufactures.
It produces cable trays, cable ladders, cable cleats, and cable support systems out of black steel, aluminum or stainless steel with hot dip galvanising, or powder coating finish according to Nema VE-1 Standards.
Its industrial, increased safety (EExe), and hazardous area (EExd) cable glands are made of brass, aluminum or stainless steel with nickel or zinc plating according to EN 50014, EN50018, and EN50019 and certified by LOM of Spain. The cable glands are also certified by LCIE of France in conformance to IEC60079-0, IEC60079-1, and IEC60079-7.
The company’s earthing and lightning protection system components such as air terminals, down conductors, earth rods, and fittings are produced from copper, gun metal, stainless steel, or galvanised steel according to BS6651 and UL 96 Standards.
Seico manufactures the exothermic welding system including graphite moulds, welding powder and handle clamps in different sizes and configurations and for different applications according to IEEE 837 and NEMA CC1 Standards.
Its bus bars come in different sizes. They can be rectangular, round or in the shape of a half circle or a right angle. They are also made as half hard, full hard or annealed or tin plated or silver plated. They conform to the BS13601 standard.
Seico customers are mainly giant international engineering companies that execute huge projects in the oil, gas, energy, water and petrochemical industries in the region for clients such as Saudi Aramco, Sabic, Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Saudi Electric Company, Adnoc, Kahrama, KOC and other government and non-government firms.
