Krohne has announced two flowmeter innovations in recent weeks, namely the Optimass 1000 Coriolis mass flowmeter and the Optiswirl, a robust and versatile vortex flowmeter with integrated pressure and temperature measurement.
Building on the success of the award-winning Optimass 7000, the Optimass 1000 instrument has been designed to provide industry with a high-performance, general-purpose flow measurement solution - at an entry level price.
The Optimass 1000 delivers best-in-class measurement performance, achieving an accuracy of +/- 0.2 per cent of measured value. The instrument is compact, fitted with secondary containment as standard, in either SS304L or 316L stainless steel, and is also available with a liquid/steam heating option.
It uniquely has a single straight tube appearance but incorporates two close coupled measuring tubes which are pressure rated to 100 bar. The maximum operating pressure of the instrument and the secondary containment are also rated to 100 bar.
The flowmeter is available in four sizes – half inch, an inch, an inch and a half and two inches with nominal flow rates of 4,800 kg/h, 20,000 kg/h, 60,000 kg/h and 125,000 kg/h respectively. Densities of materials can range from 400 to 2,500 kg/m?.
The Optimass 1000 uses Krohne’s modular electronics converters, which can be fitted across its range of flowmeters. This allows instruments to be supplied with a converter to suit its intended application, providing either basic functionality or high-end specification with diagnostics capability.
It is suitable for use across a broad range of industries.
The other innovation, Optiswirl, incorporates the company’s ISP (intelligent signal processing) technology which eliminates unwanted signal noise to deliver precise, stable measurement.
The Optiswirl 4070 C is designed to measure operating flow, volumetric flow and mass flow of conductive and non-conductive materials accurately. These can be liquids, gasses or vapours - and in some applications where material pressures and temperatures fluctuate.
Krohne’s new instrument is designed to provide high reliability and once installed does not require on-going maintenance. Its durable stainless steel case is resistant to pressure, temperature and corrosion making it suitable for use in harsh applications, such as those in the chemical or petrochemical and gas industries.
The Optiswirl is also suitable for use in SIP (sterilisation in place) and CIP (cleaning in place) processes in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
