A range of hose assemblies supplied by AFI

The Dammam-based AFI is one of the leading hose assembly specialists in the region with crimping facility up to 6” with an exclusive range of hoses and fittings from leading hose manufacturers in the world.

The company offers a complete range of hose assemblies such as hydraulic hoses, ultra-high-pressure (UHP) hoses and fittings and stainless steel hoses.
“AFI strictly adheres to the policy of matching and mating of the same brand hose and fittings for every hose assembly. This enables us to achieve a superior quality, reliability and product responsibility. This is the reason that AFI is the only company that gives a three-year warranty on its hose assemblies,” says a spokesman of AFI.
All AFI hose assemblies come with a unique number engraved on the fittings that stands for the assembly date, AFI part number (for repeat order) and safe working pressure. Each hose assembly is tested in the company’s hydrostatic test bench.
AFI provides a hose service van and service back-up which includes:
• 24 hours service seven days a week;
• Excellent service back up;
• On-site inspection and installation; and
• Technical advice and services for shut-down services.
AFI Dammam has the most advanced hose testing facility in the Middle East. “Our hydro-static computerised testing facility can test hose assemblies up to an amazing 87,000 PSI (6000 bar). The facility can also perform the ‘burst’ testing. All test results are printed with graphical representation, showing the duration and actual test pressure. The test bench is fully automatic with test cycle control and computer-controlled data input and visualization on PC with customer specific database function,” says the spokesman.

Hydraulic hoses: AFI stocks a wide variety of hoses that meet DIN and SAE standards for various industry standards, applications and as per customer requirements. The hose sizes range from (1/4)” to 2” for low, medium and high pressure hydraulic applications. “We also supply hoses for special applications such as heater and coolant, railroad air brake system, fuel, oil, LPG and chemicals,” he says.

Fittings: AFI has the largest stock of hose fittings (crimp and reusable) of various sizes and different types of threads. Its one- piece crimp fittings from Aeroquip offer a stronger design (no braze joints), maximises fatigue life and improves flow characteristics.

Adapters and tube fittings: With the most comprehensive range of products for adapters and pipe/tube fitting systems available in the company’s warehouse, the search for adapters and tube fittings stops at AFI, says the spokesman. “With our expertise in hydraulic piping, we are able to provide system solutions that are tailor-made to customers’ specifications using our wide range of thread combinations and high-quality tube fittings,” he says.

Stainless steel corrugated hoses: AFI has the technology and capability to manufacture stainless steel corrugated hose assemblies in-house. The sizes range from 6 mm (1/4”) to 300 mm (12”). Their characteristics include: Suitability for use in temperature ranging from -270 deg C to 700 deg C; high physical strength; fire resistant; good corrosion characteristics; and connects misaligned rigid piping and absorbs or dampens vibration.

Ultra-high-pressure hoses and fittings: AFI stocks and supplies a complete range of UHP hoses and fittings with working pressure up to 3,000 bar. UHP hoses are constructed with spiral layers of specially treated high tensile steel wires. The outer cover is made of polyamide or polyurethane while the extremely smooth inner core is made of high grade thermoplastic materials that provide excellent flow properties and high chemical resistance. AFI also undertakes testing of high pressure hoses at its premises with test certificates that show the pressure, testing duration in graphical displays. UHP hose assemblies can be used in various applications such as water jetting and water blasting, the spokesman says.

Coupling: The company has a complete range of Quick Disconnect couplings that are connecting devices which permit easy, immediate connection and separation of fluid lines. They eliminate system bleeding and ensure dependability since the chances of air, dirt and moisture being trapped in the system is minimised.
In addition to the standard hydraulic couplings, AFI also keeps stocks of API couplers and adaptors for bottom loadings systems as well as Emco Wheaton’s patented Drybreak couplers and adaptors for customers who demand total spill-free connection and disconnection of hazardous fluids.

Accessories: AFI supplies a multitude of hose accessories that prolong the usage of hose assemblies and promote safety; these items include hose clamps, steel protective spring guards, armour guards, protective sleeves, nylon abrasion sleeve and fire sleeves.
