Export success for ETSL

12 MVA power transformer exported to Saudi Arabia

Emirates Transformer and Switchgear Limited (ETSL), Dubai., reports its efforts during the past two years to market company-made transformers of higher ratings have borne fruit.

The company has supplied transformers of ratings higher than 10 MVA to parties in Sri Lanka, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands and Kenya. The company also announced it is enlarging its manufacturing facilities by setting up an additional fabrication unit and creating dust-free enclosed storage.
Growth and profitability are directly linked to the strategies employed by a company and ETSL progressed well in the execution of its strategies.  Ever since its establishment in 1987 as the pioneer of transformer manufacturing in the UAE, the company has grown steadily, gaining much experience in manufacturing, at first, distribution transformers and, thereafter, moving into the slightly higher rating power transformers.
In 2002, there was a focused strategy devised by the ETSL management to step-up their marketing efforts in power transformers of higher ratings, said operations manager Ajoy Patel.
“Having achieved the status of an accomplished manufacturer of distribution and power transformers up to 10 MVA, 33 kV class, we believe there is much to be gained from selling transformers with ratings higher than 10 MVA - not only does it contribute favourably towards maximising shareholders’ wealth but, from an operational perspective, it also allows us to utilise our human and machine resources to their optimal capacities,” said Patel.
ETSL invested much in upgrading its infrastructure to support manufacturing operations for higher-rating power transformers.
“This year the infrastructure-development and marketing efforts have finally come to fruition,” commented Patel.
ETSL has added to its manufacturing and sales record with orders that include the following:
• Manufacture and sale of one 10MVA, 33/11.5 kV power transformer, supplied for installation in Sri Lanka.
• Manufacture and sale of four 10 MVA 20/10.5 kV power transformers, supplied for installation in The Netherlands
• Manufacture and sale of two 10 MVA 33/11.5 kV power transformers, supplied for installation in Oman
• Manufacture and sale of two 12 MVA 13.8/6.9 kV power transformers, supplied for installation in Saudi Arabia
• Manufacture and sale of two 16 MVA, 33/11.5 kV power transformers, supplied for installation in Oman.
• Manufacture and sale of one 23 MVA, 9.7-11.5/10.6 kV regulating transformer, supplied for installation in The Netherlands
• Manufacture and sale of one 20 MVA power transformer, supplied for installation in Oman
• Manufacture and sale of one 23 MVA power transformer, supplied for installation in Kenya
To provide further impetus to growth within this sector, ETSL is in the process of enhancing its manufacturing facility by adding a brand new tank fabrication unit and creating an additional dust-free enclosed storage for complete transformer units.
“Having taken the first step of this thousand-mile journey, we are all quite excited about what the future has in store for us,” observed Patel.  “We believe that employing better and newer resources coupled with the planned objective of manufacturing power transformers, will definitely have operational and marketable consequences - from improved deliveries, reduced costs and higher manufacturing efficiencies to boosting our image and moving up to bigger economies of scale.”
