Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the leading international IT company with over 12 years experience in the development, manufacturing and marketing of tablet PCs and IT solutions, launched recently the Stylistic ST5010 series, a powerful tablet PC with attractive new features, including a 12.1-inch display and longlife battery.
Around the same time it also unveiled its FibreCAT CX series to offer a dynamic range of next-generation networked storage systems that support a larger number of end-users than the existing models and deliver more power, functionality and scalability.
Another important launch was the Primergy BX300 range of blade servers, which come with a new high-speed processor tailored for the requirements of data centres and Internet service providers.
Weighing just 1.54 kg, the new tablet PC is primed for network and Internet connectivity, and powered by Intel Centrino mobile technology with integrated wireless LAN, supporting 54 Mbit/s, an integrated modem and wired LAN data exchange via the new Gigabit LAN.
Just like its predecessors, the new slate models use a special stylus pen, which allows the users to take notes and have their handwriting transferred into typewritten text.
“We anticipate a great interest for these tablet PCs in the Middle East in industries such as hospitals and market research as well as in the educational sector,” said Susanne Lewitzki, product-marketing manager, FSC.
“One of the key areas in which the new Stylistic can be used is the hospital. It allows doctors and nurses to edit patient data on site at the patient’s bed. After the visit, the device can be integrated in a docking station and doctors can use it as a normal PC with keyboard and peripherals,” said Lewitzki.
FSC’s new FibreCAT systems, namely CX 300, CX 500 and CX 700, provide cost-effective solutions for mid-tier storage, the company said.
It added that the technology used in the systems improved performance and data protection while leveraging existing hardware, software and training.
FSC will also supply improved software for data replication and backup and recovery, as well as improved features like SnapView and SAN Copy. SnapView now includes SIME (SnapView Integration Module for Exchange), an advanced integration module for Microsoft Exchange environments. Furthermore, SnapView can be used by the new entry-system FibreCAT CX300, while SAN Copy offers a function for incremental data copies.
Discussing the Primergy BX300, it said the high-speed processor took the new product into a new performance dimension, while permitting complex and performance-intensive applications such as extensive terminal server installations or a large number of web servers – all with the added bonus of lower costs per server blade and reduced space requirements in the rack.
Each chassis on the server accommodates up to 20 Primergy BX300 server blades, now featuring the new Intel Pentium M processor and up to 4 GB of ECC-protected DDR SDRAM memory.
The new blade server delivering processing power in the Primergy BX300 also provides an optional PCI slot for Gigabit Ethernet or Fibre Channel connections, allowing the server to achieve even higher throughput, making it suitable for integration into corporate networks or providing additional functionality in network-attached storage infrastructures.
