Topstone: tough product with aesthetic appeal

Saudi-based Al Romaizan Factory has added 16 new colours to its existing 38-colour range for Topstone surface tiles.

According to the deputy general manager (sales and marketing) of Al Romaizan, Akbar Omar Khan, the company has achieved a lot in the current year, especially in terms of introducing design and variety to Topstone.

For more than 10 years the Saudi-based Al Romaizan Factory has been in the business of manufacturing and installing surface tiles both in sheet form and as sinks/bowls in local and international markets. Apart from the manufacturing facilities in Riyadh’s Second Industrial City, the company has a design centre which helps to provide the consumer with suggestions on the latest designs brought out by the company. According to the company, the name Topstone has already become synonymous with solid surfacing in the region.
The company recently expanded its facilities by adding new machinery. Khan says the company provides for Topstone services and solutions that are unrivalled as part of a company mission to make the product synonymous with solid surfaces

The company says Topstone, being a homogenous material, is resistant to random impacts, and its composition also allows the easy repair of cracks without a trace. Topstone is also non-porous and will not absorb or react with most of the household chemicals, it stresses.

The marketing efforts of the company, coupled with technical innovation and product development, have enhanced the market share of the company and brought about greater awareness about the product.
The company is also proud of the success it has achieved in the Canadian market following the introduction of Topstone.  Khan reports there has been a spurt in demand there within a short span of time. “Our objective is to contribute positively to the global society and be a part of the overall success of the solid surface industry,” he says.
Khan maintains that the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the technical team have expanded the range of applications for Topstone, making it a product that can be used in very many applications. It is used extensively in providing a solid and lasting finish to most surfaces and the possibility of its use in newer applications is endless and only limited by the imagination, says the official.

Topstone is used in hospitals, homes and hotels and serves to act as a lasting surface to countertops, tabletops, wall-claddings and partitions, particularly in hygiene-sensitive areas. Its solid and seamless finish to the surface makes it ideal for use in hygiene-sensitive areas as it prevents the accumulation of dirt and the growth of bacteria, the company explains.

In restaurants, Topstone’s elegance and high performance have gained the trust of some of the biggest names in the food business. In showrooms, another area of application, its lightweight properties add an artistic touch to any horizontal use.
According to Khan, Al Romaizan is the first company in the kingdom to receive the ISO certification within the industry and also the first in the region to have membership of the International Solid Surface Association (ISSFA).

Topstone was used on some major projects in Saudi Arabia in recent months including: King Faisal Specialised Hospital Riyadh; A1 Ahsa General Hospital; Debenhams showroom, Kingdom Centre, Riyadh; A1 Madinah Airport departure terminal, Madinah; King Abdulaziz University Dental School; King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah; King Khaled Hospital National Guard, Jeddah, and Al Andal National School, Jeddah, as well as numerous restaurants throughout the kingdom, including Hardees and KFC.
As well as its own offices in Saudi Arabia, Al Romaizan has a number of distributors in the kingdom and throughout the GCC area and Europe. The company wants to use its wide reach and quality product to gain more customers and supply to more projects on a more extensive scale.

Khan says the policy of the company - ‘Quality has no compromise’ - has held it in good stead in the face of stiff competition from multinationals, and the company has plans to pursue the policy with greater vigour.
