A new U.S. Robotics modem that allows higher connectivity speeds and better access has been introduced in the UAE.
The 9000 ADSL USB modem received Etisalat's approval in October 2002 and is the first ADSL modem to be made available off the shelf to consumers. The new system enables users in homes and small-to-medium businesses to take full advantage of the web by allowing them connectivity speeds from 384Kbps up to 8 mbps depending on approved bandwidth by Etisalat.
The SureConnect ADSL USB modem allows users to connect with a broadband Internet access solution and get always-on connectivity and unbelievably fast download speeds.
"The SureConnect 9000 ADSL USB Modem is ideal for residential and small office/home office self-installations. The product connects to any USB port, allowing for fast and easy setup, and includes software tools for trouble-free operation," the company said.
"The built-in diagnostics and connection monitoring set a new standard for convenience and ease of use. SureConnect software provides support tools so users can monitor basic modem and DSL service performance. Service technicians can utilise a special 'technician mode' to run advanced diagnostics, monitor system performance, and perform control/configuration functions. SureConnect products feature complete software, documentation, online software upgrades, and total product support for long service life and trouble-free operation."
The SureConnect modem meets or exceeds the TR-048 benchmark standard for ADSL performance testing (developed by the DSL Forum), UR-2, and other key industry/telco performance requirement standards. The SureConnect modem also features a new durable, modular design, which means that components can be conveniently stacked to minimise desktop clutter.
