KAEC demonstrates commitment to growth, innovation and sustainability

King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) continues to make significant strides in its development, with recent agreements and partnerships solidifying its position as a vital hub for economic growth and innovation.

The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and its subsidiary National Electricity Transmission (NET) have signed agreements with Emaar, The Economic City (EEC), the main developer of KAEC, to meet the increasing demand for electrical energy in the city.

Additionally, KAEC has entered into a strategic partnership with HopOn, a leading provider of smart transportation solutions, to establish a smart and sustainable transportation system.

Furthermore, the city's dedication to education and lifelong learning has been recognised, as Madinah, KAEC, and Al-Ahsa have joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.

ELECTRICAL SERVICE EXPANSION IN KAEC

The SEC and NET have solidified their commitment to KAEC's growth by signing two agreements with EEC at the start of 2024. These agreements aim to deliver electrical service to the second and third phases of KAEC projects, stated SPA.

The first agreement focuses on connecting the main substation in KAEC with the NET Company's general electrical system network, ensuring a seamless power supply.

The second agreement entails the delivery of electrical service specifically tailored to the projects in KAEC's Industrial Valley, including the manufacturing facilities of the Saudi Ceer Company and Lucid electric car company.

These agreements highlight the SEC's dedication to providing advanced electrical solutions and supporting the goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

SMART AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

KAEC has forged a strategic partnership with HopOn, a prominent provider of public and shared transportation services for smart cities, to establish a state-of-the-art transportation system, reported SPA.

This partnership signed in February, 2024 aims to facilitate transportation within the city, with a focus on connecting the Haramain High-Speed Railway station to key areas and destinations in KAEC.

The transportation system will offer a range of options, including buses, customised solutions, vans, scooters, and bicycles, both mechanical and electric.

Through smart applications, residents and visitors will be able to book their trips and parking spaces conveniently.

This initiative aligns with KAEC's commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality, in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

KAEC JOINS UNESCO GLOBAL NETWORK OF LEARNING CITIES

KAEC along with Madinah and Al-Ahsa have been recognised by the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, joining Yanbu Industrial City and Jubail Industrial City as esteemed members from Saudi Arabia, according to SPA.

The enlistment of these cities is a result of the collaborative efforts of the National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science, supported by the Minister of Culture and the Minister of Education.

With the signing of delivery agreements for electrical service expansion and the establishment of a smart transportation system, KAEC continues to demonstrate its commitment to economic growth, innovation, and sustainability.
