Asry officials attending the expo

Asry, a leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, showcased its products and services at the world’s largest shipping exhibition, SMM Hamburg, in Germany, last month.

Participation at the event boosts the Bahrain-based shipyard’s commercial presence in one of the globe’s primary shipping hubs, and also allows research and exploration of shipping trends, particularly the latest decarbonisation technologies and alternative fuel usage, a statement by Asry said.

“This show is one the most important focus points for not only our European clients, but also many of our global clients, making personal contact with old and new customers is a refreshing boost for our international presence. Also, this show in particular showcases state-of-the-art technological trends and developments to maintain the yard’s leading edge position,” Sauvir Sarkar, Asry General Manager Ship Repair and Engineering, commented.

The 2020 version of the exhibition was cancelled due to Covid, but this year was SMM Hamburg’s 30th anniversary, and has rebounded with renewed strength as the shipping industry goes from strength to strength. This year the show featured approximately 2,000 exhibitors and more than 40,000 visitors from more than 100 countries.
