Industry leaders will once again gather at the region’s leading plastic conference in Riyadh, Saudi

The most prominent gathering for the plastics industry is set to return to the Arabian Gulf in May, this year.

The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) has announced that it is hosting the 11th edition of the GPCA Plastic Conference from May 25 to 26, 2022 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia under the theme “Plastics reimagined – A circular future awaits”.

“After a short pause, the GPCA Plastics Conference will once again gather the industry leaders from the value chain to share learnings, challenges, and innovative strategies in promoting a circular economy for plastics through collaboration,” GPCA said in a statement. The two-day event will discuss the plastics industry's future post-pandemic. “The Covid-19 pandemic has re-emphasised how important plastics are to everyday life. Various medical equipment proved to be a lifesaver and played a pivotal role in protecting our frontline during the pandemic. However, the manner in which their disposal is handled poses a serious environmental challenge and calls for a shift from the existing linear take-make-dispose model towards a closed loop, reusability and recycling focused model,” it added.

Over 20 global speakers are expected to share their insights through more than 14 discussions to an audience of over 170 delegates. More than 60 companies are expected to attend the conference.
