With the addition of four new breaker attachments, Bobcat now offers a complete range of seven breaker models for use on all Bobcat loaders and excavators.
These breakers can also be mounted on Bobcat backhoe attachments for the company's loaders. Complementing the existing 8700, B850 and B950 breakers are the new B300, B500, B600 and B1400 models offering blow per minute rates from 635 to 2000 for carriers with hydraulic flow rates from 18 to 120 I/min.
All the breakers combine advanced hydraulic hammer technology with a robust design for high reliability, low maintenance and longer life. The breakers feature a unique piston shape consisting of three different diameters, with the diameter of the piston becoming progressively larger from the bottom to the top.
This piston shape produces a trapezoidal shock wave, which develops more energy at the end of the piston stroke, resulting in a concentrated impact force for enhanced performance in demolition work.
The breakers produce low recoil as well as a minimal pressure spike on the tool carrier. They have a diaphragm-type accumulator to ensure that no slow leaks occur, thus maintaining a constant nitrogen charge pressure.
All breaker models are equipped with an air pressurisation port to pressurise the striking chamber in order to prevent damage to the breaker in underwater applications as well as extend component life in very dusty demolition jobs.
The standard tool for all breaker models is a conical moil point. Also available are a variety of other tools, including in-line and cross-cut chisels, and tamping pads.
The smallest breaker model, the new Bobcat B300, delivers up to 1,260bpm at 28 I/min and has an operating weight with moil point, bolt-on fixing cap and hoses of 103kg. It is intended for use on the 320 and 322 mini-excavators.
The new Bobcat B500 breaker produces 1,450bpm at 32 I/min and is designed for use on the Bobcat 463 and 553 skid-steer loaders and 320/322 mini-excavators. The B500 has an operating weight of 136kg and carries a 49mm diameter tool.
Approved for use on the 553 and 753 skid-steer loaders and the 325/328 mini-excavators, the Bobcat B600 breaker produces 2000bpm at 50 I/min and has an operating weight of 168 kg with a 49mm diameter tool.
The Bobcat B700, B850 and B950 breakers together cover all models from the 753 to the S250 skid-steer loaders, T190 and T200 compact tracked loaders, the A220 multi-steer loader and all the mini-excavators from the 325 to the 341. The new top-of-the-range B1400 breaker, which provides 775 to 1,150bpm and has flow requirements from 70 to 120 I/min, is designed for use on the new Bobcat 442 seven-tonne excavator.
The B300 to B600 breakers are mounted on the loaders via the standard Bob-Tach frame and on the excavators via a pin-on fixing cap bolted on the breaker mounting plates. The Bobcat proprietary X-Change mounting system is available as an option with these breakers.
