The Extec C-10: great features

UK manufacturer Extec Screens and Crushers has announced the launch of its new C-10 compact tracked jaw crusher, which was designed and tested using the latest computer-aided design technology and had its initial trials undertaken on a large selection of various types of material in Europe.

"The C-10 is a totally new concept in tracked crushing designed to increase production, reduce operating costs and produce a fine product," the company said in a statement. It added that the product was suitable for crushing "virtually any material it encountered".

Extec is among the world's leading manufacturers of mobile screening and crushing equipment.

The C-10 was described as encompassing such revolutionary features as diesel hydraulic power with 166 kw / 225 hp engine; hydraulic transmission without clutches; a jaw size 1000 x 650 mm encompassing unique high-speed and geo-crush technology to give very high production while reducing wear; a large vibrating feeder with grizzly and discharge conveyor for fines and a jaw setting hydraulically adjusted.

Other features it described as revolutionary were: a hydraulic system automatically coordinating the flow of material from vibrating feeder to the jaw; a 'uniquely' small closed size setting; a fast-track system ensuring the clear flow of reinforcing bar when concrete is crushed; a large gap between discharge point of crusher and discharge conveyor that eliminates blockages and facilitates cleaning; the capability of the 'complete machine' to be raised on its hydraulic legs to facilitate cleaning and servicing of tracks.

"All of which gives the end user high production, cleaner products and more profit unique in this class of tracked crusher," the company said.

The C-10 had its world launch at Conexpo in Las Vegas and European launch at SED. Recent orders came from Smith Construction, J C Balls and Rod Crook amongst others.

Extec Industries was formed in 1987. It began in a small factory in Leicester, where some of the most experienced brains in the screening industry came together.

"The simple idea was to construct an integrated screening system that would combine true mobility with high productivity. This resulted in the mould breaking 5000. From the first 5000 the product range has evolved to include Robotrac, Turbotrac, Doublescreen, Mega-Bite and Impactor, C-12.

Extec has carried out continuous development of its mould-breaking designs from the very start.

Manufacturing is currently undertaken at three UK locations: Swadlincote, Sheffield and Omagh.

The company said reasons for successful growth were use of the most advanced design technology with designers recruited from the world's top universities; first class tools including the computer-controlled plasma and staff development and training.
