Alkhorayef steps up global expansion

APC: wide product portfolio

Saudi-based Alkhorayef Petroleum Company (APC), the only Middle Eastern manufacturer of electrical submersible pumps (ESPs) and horizontal pumping systems (HPS), is embarking on an ambitious programme to extend its international footprint, taking its broad portfolio of artificial lift products and services to new markets.

The company has been providing ESP systems for the oil and gas sector and to the water business in Saudi Arabia since 1980.  It expanded into Kuwait and elsewhere in the region from 1996.  APC provided, installed and maintained ESPs in Oman from 1996 to 2002 after which it took its business model of being the “local” ESP provider to international markets, with expansion into Africa and Latin America.

APC has continued to invest in training, research and development and maintaining high level service quality to clients despite challenging market conditions.  In addition to offering a complete portfolio of ESP system components, APC responds to clients’ unique application requirements, developing innovative engineered solutions to address specific challenges.

“APC has a solid history of working with operators to tailor R&D projects to meet unique application needs,” a company spokesman says.  Cases cited include a medium voltage variable speed drive (VSD) designed to consume less space on offshore platforms and reduce the Capex required in new offshore field development in the Middle East.

The company illustrated its global presence by detailing a recent case in Colombia where it has installed a patented double stage gas separation system to restart production from an operator’s previously shut in field.

“APC is working on solutions to address client-specific challenges and has several projects currently under development that will allow operators to increase reliability and production from more demanding applications,” the spokesman adds.

APC offers artificial lift, enhanced oil recovery and early production facility services in 10 countries across the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
