Bahrain's value of imports reached about BD433 million ($1.14 billion) in July this year, according to the foreign trade report for the month issued by the kingdom’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).

The report also noted that the top 10 countries accounted for 64 per cent of the imports value and other countries the rest.

China topped the list of exporters to Bahrain with BD65 million ($172.3 million) worth of goods. The UAE came second with BD52 million ($137.9 million), whereas Japan ranked third with BD28 million ($74.2 million), added the report.

Non-agglomerated ores and concentrates emerged as the top product imported to Bahrain with BD16 million ($42.4 million), while the four-wheel drive came second with BD14 million ($37.1 million), it said. Aluminium oxide were the third with BD12 million ($31.8 million) during this period.

The value of the exported national origin products has reached approximately BD145 million ($384.5 million) in July.

The top 10 countries account for 80 per cent of the exported national origin value and 20 per cent for other countries, said a statement.

Saudi Arabia ranked first among the countries importing from Bahrain with BD37 million ($98.13 million); US came second with BD24 million ($63.6 million) and UAE came in third place with BD15 million ($39.7 million).

As for exported products, aluminium wires emerged as the top products exported in July with BD20 million ($53.04 million); agglomerated iron ores and concentrates were positioned second products exported with a value of BD13 million ($34.4 million); and unwrought aluminium alloys stood third place for exported products with BD11 million ($29.17 million).

In regards to the re-exported field, the value reached BD44 million ($116.7 million). The top 10 countries account for 94 per cent of the re-exported value and 6 per cent for other countries, it said.

Saudi Arabia ranked first among the countries to re-export from Bahrain with BD20 million ($53.04 million), China ranked second with BD8 million ($21.2 million) and the UAE was in third with BD6 million ($15.91 million).

Four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top product re-exported from Bahrain with BD10.2 million ($27.05 million), cigarettes came as second products with BD1.8 million ($4.77 million), and sedan cars came as third with BD1.6 million ($4.24 million).

The trade balance, difference between exports and imports, increase in the value of the deficit in May 2017 reaching an amount of BD244 million ($647.1 million), it stated.
