Agility has made a mark regionally and internationally
Kuwait-based Agility, which made a first-quarter net profit of KD13.1 million ($43.37 million), reported it has bagged a five-year contract with medical and pharmaceutical supplier YIACO Medical Company of Kuwait to provide specialised warehousing and other services.
The global logistics provider will support YIACO’s work in the healthcare industry for both public and private sectors. Agility is to store medicines and medical equipment supplied by YIACO and handle administration of the Ministry of Health’s stamp on orders filled by YIACO.
Dr Bader Alzaid Altraji, CEO of YIACO for Kuwait and the region, said: “This partnership unifies our logistics under one roof and allows us to increase quality and efficiency while ensuring high standards of compliance. Agility’s experience in supply chain management and its advanced warehouse facility enable us to efficiently serve more than 1,500 pharmacies, public and private, along with hospitals.”
The 9,000 sq m Agility facility uses advanced warehousing technology and equipment. It is equipped with a temperature-controlled zone for sensitive medicine, as well as a secure area for high-value medical equipment and pharmaceutical goods. The warehouse also includes a quarantine area for goods pending approval and/or licensing by the Ministry of Health.
Agility’s Q1 net profit of KD13.1 million, was up 10.9 per cent compared with Q1 2015. Ebitda increased by 12.1 per cent to KD26.2 million. Revenue was KD 298.8 million, a 6.1 per cent decrease versus the same period last year.
