Drydocks World’s Dubai facilities

Drydocks World has been awarded a contract from Kvaerner to carry out the fabrication of components on the Johan Sverdrup Riser platform jacket for end-user Statoil. It is to be located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Kvaerner won the contract from Statoil in January and Drydocks World will carry out the fabrication of pile clusters and floatation tanks including surface protection for the Johan Sverdrup Riser platform jacket. The pile clusters will form the base of the jacket where the structure is piled to the seabed, and the tanks will be used for launching and installing jackets on site. The over 7,000-tonne project will have fabrication done to the stringent Norsok safety and quality standards, said Drydocks World.

Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, commented: “We look forward to solidifying our past prosperous relations with our client and plan to continue providing optimal services to meet all production targets.” Buamim said the yard incorporated an extensive business management strategy with built-in efficiency, on-time delivery and cost-effective measures.

For Kvaerner, Drydocks World had previously completed two substructures for semi-submersible drilling rigs Aker Alpha and Aker Beta. Currently Drydocks World is also fabricating a 2,000-tonne jacket and wellhead platform for the Technip Rashid C Platform.

“Drydocks World has qualified expertise in fabricating high-tolerance offshore structures, demonstrating the organisation’s capabilities in delivering complete offshore projects complying with strict safety, environmental and quality standards. In building the world’s largest turret mooring system, Drydocks World has delivered four modules. It plans to maintain our stringent standards of operational excellence and our project expertise to exceed the expectations of Kvaerner,” the yard said.
