TECHNOLOGIES showcased recently by Saudi American Glass (SAG), part of the Glass LLC Group of Dubai Investments and a supplier to well-known projects in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent, puts it on track to expand its customer portfolio.
The company presented its Smartglass and FireLite solutions at the Saudi Build 2014 exhibition in Riyadh, calling them revolutionary.
“SAG is reinforcing the uniqueness of the Smartglass concept and technology – an innovative flat glass product that can turn from translucent to opaque and which allows instant privacy at the flick of a switch,” the company said in a statement.
Smartglass is currently enhancing environments in more than 33 countries across six continents.
SAG, which provides glass for industrial, architectural and construction applications, presented its FireLite solutions – a thick fire-rated and glazing material that blocks fire and smoke and equipped to meet impact resistance requirements. SAG is the exclusive provider of the FireLite technology in the country.

SAG enjoys a wholesome reputation in the country with an enviable portfolio of projects under way including Al Obeikan, Elegance Towers, Al Rajhi Hotel and the General Audit Bureau Headquarters in Riyadh, a number of new commercial towers in Makkah, Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Al Khobar, a new 5-Star hotel in Jeddah and numerous faculty buildings for universities in Dammam, Najran, Jizan, Madinah, Hail, Tabuk and Qassim.
Projects outside the Gulf it supplied to include Sanaa International Hotel (Yemen), Al Nahar (Lebanon), Agricultural Bank (Egypt) and Mumbai Grand Hyatt Phase 1 (India).
Its Gulf projects include Damas Tower, Dubai Marina Phase I, Rose Rotana, Al Attar Tower (all in Dubai), Crystal Plaza (Sharjah), Beverley Hills Tower, Al Jaidah Apartments, Platinum Tower (all in Qatar), World Trade Centre, Durrat Al Bahrain, Fakhro Tower (all in Bahrain), Arraya Centre and Al Kharafi Building (both in Kuwait)
SAG, based in Saudi Arabia, was established in 1978, and is recognised as the best equipped supplier for processed flat glass in the Middle East. The company supplies numerous tempered, strengthened and laminated varieties of glass under the K-Lite brand. Saudi American Glass is the region’s first and one-of-the-largest Middle Eastern glass manufacturers, annually supplying more than three million metres.
