Italy-based Industrie Cometto SpA, manufacturer of heavyduty transportation products, is in the process of strengthening its Middle East marketing operations.
Cometto has been selling its vehicles in the region for the past 30 years, working with the biggest players of the niche market. Its products include heavy haulage modular trailers, self-propelled electronic modules and self-propelled transporters.
“Key players in heavy duty transport such as Almajdouie in Saudi Arabia, Al Jaber in the UAE and Al Mutahida in Oman have been using Cometto trailers through the years,” said Industrie Cometto export area manager Ferriani Simone.
“Believing strongly in the development of the this region, Cometto recently decided to develop further the Middle East market appointing a dedicated area manager with the aim of increasing the business network,” he said.
“In order to always give better services to its clients, Cometto has also appointed a local dealer in Saudi Arabia, the Al Ghanmy Group with offices in Riyadh and soon in Dammam, where most of the activity is concentrated.
“This has proved a successful move as it allows Cometto to understand better the local market and supply its vehicles accordingly, shortening local service and spares parts delay.”
The company says it expects to play a bigger role in the GCC region’s fast-growing infrastructure and industrial fields through making its products available to a wider clientele across
several segments.
As several big engineering projects such as the Riyadh Metro and King Abdullah Financial City are developing in Saudi Arabia, Cometto believes a local contact is essential to maintain constant communication with the end client, said Simone.
It is also investing strongly in participating in major events organised locally such as Intermat Middle East, Metal and Steel Saudi, Project Qatar and Transtec with a view to paying closer attention to market needs.
Among its future plans is developing the rental business as it is known that the Saudi market is requesting more and more product availability for that segment.
Cometto’s history goes back to 1954 and it has since developed to the point of being recognised as a worldwide top player in the field of heavduty transportation.
While Cometto has specialised through the years in manufacturing modular trailers and self-propelled vehicles, it has not overlooked the importance of creating customised vehicles for special applications, noted Simone.
Clients such as Drydocks World Dubai are daily operating with shipyard heavyduty transporters that Cometto specially developed for them, he says.
Cometto has also been successful through the years in other specialised fields such as steel works machines and oil and gas vehicles for the offshore business.
