Jebel Ali-based Aggreko has been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification for its quality management system in the UAE. Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance presented the award to Aggreko Middle East comprising Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and Aggreko International Power Projects (AIPP) service and resource centres at Jebel Ali.
Aggreko Middle East and AIPP are part of the global power solutions provider Aggreko pic, the international group specialising in the supply of temporary power, temperature control and oil-free air.
Tony Muncer, Middle East and Africa manager, Lloyd's Register, who presented the award to Aggreko, said in his company's dealings with Aggreko "the desire for excellence has been clearly demonstrated".
Commenting on the certification, Pradeep Bhalla, manager of quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) for Aggreko and the company's management representative for quality, said: "ISO 9001:2000 is a very effective management tool for consolidating and improving best-known practices. Like any tool, however, the standard will only produce excellent results if applied with the skills and dedication of professional people who care about what they do." Aggreko has said it will extend its quality programme to cover all Middle Eastern operations during 2002.
John Mercer, director of Incon Quality Consultants, who assisted Aggreko in its certification project, said the Aggreko staff in general and the directors and management representatives in particular had maintained an enthusiasm and drive that would lead to further improvements.
Aggreko diesel generators range from 15kVA to 1250 kVA which, when working in parallel with each other, are capable of delivering multi-megawatt packages for a wide variety of customers. Aggreko also offers a full range of resistive/reactive load banks and a large fleet of containerised transformers.
Aggreko power generation services include generators, load banks, transformers and ancillary products offering power from 15kVA in a single unit to complete multi-megawatt power packages. Aggreko temperature-control services include fluid chillers, heavy-duty air conditioners, heat exchangers and ancillary products for a wide range of industrial and commercial cooling applications.
