Kızılkaya holds the Air Cargo News trophy
awarded to Turkish Cargo for the
sia-Pacific region

Worldwide readers of Air Cargo News, the 30-year-old industry newspaper, have voted Turkish Cargo top in service excellence in moving cargo to and from the busy and competitive Asia Pacific region.

The Istanbul-based carrier also challenged for the overall Cargo Airline of the Year award, announced at a spectacular gala ball in London. Mehmet Kızılkaya, the regional director of Central and Southern Europe, accepted the Best Cargo Airline to/from Asia Pacific award on behalf of Turkish Cargo during the ceremony.

It is the first time that Turkish has featured in the line-up of Cargo Airline of the Year winners, who were listed in full in Air Cargo News and on The awards were announced and presented in front of nearly 600 people from the world of air cargo.

The Air Cargo News Cargo Airline of the Year event is the longest-established and most cherished worldwide air cargo awards process of its kind and always attracts huge interest. Readers of the globally-circulated newspaper vote online for their best airline cargo service providers and there are awards too for freight forwarders and GSAs, handling companies and airports. Winning organisations such as Turkish Cargo, employ best practice whilst weaving continuous innovation into their business plans, even though the air cargo industry has been in the economic doldrums during the last two or three years with volumes and profits under attack across the world.

“Therefore, all of this year’s winners have had to contend with a shrinking marketplace – and increasing regulatory pressures – whilst continuing to bravely invest in game-changing business strategies,” says Air Cargo News’ managing director and editor Nigel Tomkins.

“Winning an accolade from customers under such difficult circumstances is particularly rewarding,” he adds. “Everyone is delighted to see Turkish Cargo – which has emerged from the shadows of so-called bigger rivals – amongst the elite.”
