Ameeri supplied guard rails for the Formula I Bahrain International Circuit

AMEERI Industries, a Bahrain firm which manufactures road safety products, light poles, electric panels and light fittings, has announced it will move its production facilities from Sitra to the Bahrain International Investment Park.

The announcement was made at Gulf Industry Fair in mid-January where the company launched its latest product, bridge parapets.

Ameeri Industries executive director Adel M Ameeri said the new, larger premises would enable the company to expand production capacity considerably and cater in a bigger way to overseas markets.

Discussing the new product, Adel said most bridge parapets used in the Gulf are imported and Ameeri’s new line would help substitute some of those with ones made in Bahrain.

Bridge parapets are a natural sequel to crash barriers or guard rails which the company has been offering for some time. It is in the process of gaining approvals for the new product from Bahrain government authorities but Adel thinks these will not take long in coming as the regulatory officials appear satisfied on examining an experimental installation.

Instead of the commonly used aluminium parapets, the company is using mild steel which it says has the advantage of being stronger and lighter. The proximity of the projects to the factory will also quicken delivery. Bridge parapets and crash barriers are products of the Amgard division.

Al Ameeri’s guard rails have been installed at the Formula I Bahrain International Circuit and the Yas Marina Formula 1 Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile, the division has been making mild steel light poles since 2009 with sizes ranging from 3 m to 20 m.  Ameeri Industries is the only manufacturer of light poles in Bahrain and, according to Adel, has a share of 20 to 25 per cent of the Bahrain market against 10 per cent in 2011. The company is aiming for 50 per cent in the next two years. Capacity is 75 to 100 poles per day and recently it won a major order from Qatar.

With regards to electric panels, the company says it has a 25 per cent share of the Bahrain market among suppliers catering to major projects. The panels are made by the AmeTech division.

The company also makes light fittings for the domestic market at its AmeLite division.
