In Brief

Maaden production soon
SAUDI Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) will start initial production at its 740,000 tonnes per year (tpy) aluminium smelter in December.

Production will be ramped up gradually to that level, Maaden said.

The partners are also developing a bauxite mine with capacity to produce 4 million tonnes of the raw material for the plant a year, and a metal rolling mill with a capacity of up to 460,000 tonnes.
