One of the evaporators that Almajdouie transported

ALMAJDOUIE, a leading Dammam-based logistics provider, announced it successfully transported three huge evaporators in Rabigh, in Saudi Arabia’s western region, installing them at a power plant under construction following a haulage contract with Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries (DHI).

The Saudi firm has a tie-up with DHI for all transportation jobs in the kingdom.

The evaporators, each weighing 460.6 tonnes and 34.3 m long, 13.2 m wide and 9.51 m high, were moved 35 km from Rabigh Port to the Rabigh PP2 project site where special arrangements were made for receiving the consignments  prior to positioning them, an Almajdouie spokesman said.

Giving details, he said the barge underwent ballasting as the company’s self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) moved in slowly for the safe rollout of the evaporators. “Almajdouie’s unmatched expertise in the complicated hauling of heavy and outsized equipment came into play,” said the spokesman.

As road construction work was ongoing in the approach to the plant, heavy equipment was pressed into service to develop an access path for the SPMTs. The first transporter reached its destination within 24 hours of its departure from the port with the others following shortly.
