Insulation solutions leader Kimmco has reported strong interest in the Gulf for its recently introduced Self-Seal Glasswool board for HVAC duct insulation.
”Based on customer need to do away with flammable glue on construction sites, and meet Leed, QSAS and Estidama requirements, Kimmco introduced this first-of-its-kind insulation that is cleaner, faster and more cost-effective than competing products,” a Kimmco spokesman said.
The company will initially focus on the Qatar market for sales of Self-Seal Glasswool boards.
“Consultants have shown strong interest in the Self-Seal glasswool product for HVAC duct insulation and similar applications. Furthermore, contractors were really impressed with the ease and speed of installation of Self-Seal boards on the ducting applications,” the spokesman said.
“Kimmco Self-Seal is specified for a number of projects in Qatar, and we are shipping the first commercial batch to the country soon,” he added.
Based in Kuwait, Kimmco’s main products are Glasswool, Rockwool and insulation accessories. Its Glasswool and Rockwool solutions have been developed to provide four key benefits: enhanced comfort through thermal and acoustic insulation, excellent fire protection, lower energy consumption and environmental friendliness.
The company says there is now increasing awareness of the importance of Leed, QSAS and Estidama requirements, specifically to improve energy efficiency. Another feature is that customer, societal and government requirements call for cleaner and safer construction sites, mainly the elimination of the use of fire-prone materials like flammable glue.
Kimmco’s main markets are the Middle East (the GCC area and the Levant), Africa, India, the Far East and other Asian countries.

Since its inception in 1977, Kimmco has established its reputation with a strong record of innovation. It is a licensee of Saint Gobain Isover, the world leader in fibreglass insulation and offers customers the service of a Technical Excellence Centre to help customise insulation solutions to application requirements.
Prior to the launch of Self-Seal, the company developed many products, such as KCL, an acoustic liner that is strong, clean and offers zero-fibre migration. It introduced Aluglass, an industry-first facing material that boasts high mechanical strength, durability and zero water vapour permeability and eliminates the need for additional weather protection.
MAJOR COMPLETED PROJECTS
The company’s HVAC and building application range of insulation projects have been used in several major projects including such iconic structures as Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Etihad Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and Dubai Metro (all in the UAE); Makkah Clock Tower, Saudi Arabia; Al Faisal Tower, Aspire Tower and Burj Qatar (all in Qatar), Kuwait Towers and Al Hamra Tower (both in Kuwait).
Kimmco was selected as the sole insulation supplier for Masdar City and official collaborator with the city, the world’s first zero-carbon, zero-waste city in Abu Dhabi, a development the spokesman described as “a strong endorsement of Kimmco’s commitment to manufacturing sustainable and eco-friendly insulation products that help protect and preserve the environment, helping ensure a green future.”
The company’s focus in 2012 is to continue to build on market leadership and on its history of supplying glasswool and rockwool insulation solutions to major clients and iconic structures in the region.
