GSI expands to serve customers

Recent expansions at Gulf Stabilizers Industry (GSI) facilities in Jubail have raised non-dust blend production capacity by 8,000 tonnes to 24,000 tonnes per year.

The company also expanded its existing chemical (antioxidant –phenolic and phosphate) facility.

“This action will support the marvellous polyolefin growth and allow GSI to secure all demand of the expansion requirements in the region,” said GSI board member engineer Osama Al Zamil.

“GSI already has taken concrete steps to further strengthen its technical capability by investing into research, innovation and development resources at its facilities in Jubail to provide all the necessary technical support to its customers,” he added.

Gulf Stabilizers Industries is a joint venture between Chemtura Corporation, a global speciality chemical company based in the US, and Al Zamil Group Holding Company of Saudi Arabia, a global investment company with diverse interests and capabilities in the industrial, plastics and petrochemicals fields.

Chemtura is a leading global producer of polymer additives, including flame retardants, antioxidants, UV stabilisers, heat stabilisers, polymer modifiers and catalysts.

Many of GSI’s standard products are known throughout the global polymer manufacturing industry. These include Anox 20, Anox PP 18 and Alkanox 240.

“All these products are manufactured to the same stringent quality control specification demanded of Chemtura’s manufacturing facilities around the world,” said a company spokesman.

The company stresses to its customers that raw material availability, thanks to its manufacturing facilities, is critical to their plant’s operations.

“Long supply chains and inevitable delays require that you carry sufficient raw materials inventory for every eventuality,” it said. “In today’s very competitive global market place, reductions in the costs of working capital such as inventory levels as well as direct and hidden costs can make a significant contribution to the profit of your business.

“The availability of key raw materials from a local manufacturing site offers you significant advantages. Lead times will be reduced from weeks or even months, down to days and this in turn will allow you to significantly reduce your raw materials inventory carrying costs.”
