Sun Ace Gulf, a Jubail-based manufacturer of plastic additives, hopes to gain an additional edge with high-technology financial and business management solutions after being inspired by a Gulf organisation's report.

The manufacturer said its decision to rebuild its business through leading IT solutions followed a report published by the Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (Goic) last November and which called on 6,000 small and medium manufacturers in the region including Saudi Arabia to start investing in technologies that created the competitiveness they needed in the face of foreign brands brought to the region under World Trade Organisation rules.

Sun Ace Gulf is set to become fully automated on Accpac's financial and business management platform, with the help of Monu-tech Information Systems, an Accpac solutions provider based in Khobar.

"Hamdan Al Hamdan, managing director of Sun Ace Gulf, observed that the e-business solutions vendor had been gaining ground in Saudi Arabia "From the simple financial modules and production process control today, to customer relationship management, wireless and e-business solutions in the near future, our new system delivers it all, with the quality and efficiency we are seeking."

Sun Ace Gulf Ltd is the first company in the Middle East to manufacture stabilisers and additives used by the plastic industry. Situated in the modern industrial city of Jubail, the company is a joint venture between Saudi Arabian interests and the Sun Ace Group, a major plastics additive manufacturer originating in the Asia/Pacific region.

Constructed in 2000, the factory has state-of-the-art production equipment and environmental controls. The extensive laboratory is designed to meet the requirements of the region and is fully equipped to provide technical support for the company's products. The new facilities will ensure that Sun Ace Gulf can meet future customer growth and provide innovative products as the industry changes.

Continuing technical support is given by the Sun Ace Group from their technical centres in Singapore and Melbourne, Australia. Considered to be the major supplier of stabilisers in the Asian area, the Sun Ace Group has access to technical developments around the world from its parent companies based in Japan and Europe.
