Oman's Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) said it aims to develop four industrial cities in key governorates across the sultanate spanning a total area of 25.5 million sq m. This comes as part of its grand 11th Five-Year Development Plan for 2026-2030 period.

The state-owned industrial estates developer said the projects in A'Suwaiq, Al Mudhaibi, Thumrait and Madha are aimed at supporting economic diversification, attracting local and foreign investment, strengthening logistics infrastructure and creating jobs.

The developments are aligned with Oman Vision 2040 priorities, including economic diversification, private-sector development, sustainable cities and balanced regional growth.

Unveiling the big plans, Madayn said the A'Suwaiq Industrial City in North Al Batinah will cover about 12.2 million sq m, with around 1.3 million sq m planned for development in the first phase.

The projects involve the development of fully integrated industrial cities equipped with advanced infrastructure and logistics services. It is aimed at strengthening Oman’s industrial infrastructure, support economic diversification, attract local and foreign investments, support SMEs, and generate job opportunities.

"A’Suwaiq Industrial City as one of Madayn’s promising development projects in North Al Batinah Governorate. The city covers a total area of 12.2 million sqm, with around 1.3 million sqm to be developed during Phase 1," remarked Khalid Sulaiman Al Salehi, Madayn's director general of marketing and commercial affairs and official spokesman.

"The city will feature Madayn Entrepreneurial Complex, Madayn Agricultural Complex, facility building, water and sewage networks, firefighting networks, internal roads, solar-powered lighting, and other integrated infrastructure and utility services," he stated.

"A’Suwaiq Industrial City aims to stimulate industrial, agricultural and service activities in North Al Batinah Governorate while providing an integrated investment environment that meets investor requirements," he added.

The Al Mudhaibi Industrial City in North A'Sharqiyah covers about 9 million sq m, with 1.3 million sq m allocated for the first phase. Development is under way at an estimated cost of RO17 million ($44.2 million), with the project about 7% complete, it stated.

The Al Mudhaibi project will include entrepreneurial and agricultural complexes and infrastructure and utility networks, with the development expected to support industrial, agricultural and logistics investment, it added.

The Omani industrial estates developer pointed out that in Dhofar, it is developing Thumrait Industrial City across 4 million sq m area. The project will include an entrepreneurial complex, internal roads, solar-powered lighting and other infrastructure and utility services.

Madha Industrial City in Musandam will cover 360,000 sq m and include an entrepreneurial complex, water and sewage networks, firefighting systems, internal roads and solar-powered lighting.

Al Salehi said the projects were intended to improve Oman's investment environment and support sustainable economic development.

These developments would expand Oman's network of industrial cities and support the manufacturing sector's contribution to economic growth while promoting more sustainable infrastructure, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
