Global private equity firm OpenGate Capital has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Maersk Training and its subsidiary, Maersk H2S Safety Services, from A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.
Headquartered in
Svendborg, Denmark, Maersk Training provides safety training, competency
development and gas safety services to customers across the energy, maritime
and renewables sectors.
The company employs
nearly 700 people globally.
Its business comprises
two main segments. Maersk H2S Safety Services provides outsourced hydrogen
sulphide and Health, Safety and Environment services, including onsite
supervision, monitoring and safety equipment maintenance in high-risk operating
environments.
The Training Business
delivers safety training and competency development through instructor-led,
digital and virtual reality-enabled programmes.
Its customers include major global energy
companies, with demand supported by regulatory requirements and corporate
safety standards.
OpenGate said the acquisition reflects its experience in complex corporate carve-outs and cross-border transactions.
The deal will separate Maersk Training from the
listed logistics group and expand OpenGate’s portfolio of specialised safety
services.
The transaction
remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions and is
expected to be completed later in 2026.
“Maersk Training is a global leader in
mission critical industrial safety services, helping customers protect their
people and meet increasingly complex safety requirements,” said Matt Keshian,
Managing Director at OpenGate Capital. “We look forward to building upon the
company’s leadership position, particularly in high growth regions like the
Middle East and South America, where demand for outsourced safety solutions
continues to rise alongside investment in energy and industrial infrastructure.
With a global presence and strong technical capabilities, Maersk Training is
well positioned to support its customers' evolving needs.” -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
