The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the addition of Marsa Ocean Shipping’s new JSS service to Jeddah Islamic Port, a move that will expand direct trade opportunities and enhance maritime shipping operations between the Kingdom and global markets while supporting national exports.
The new service links Jeddah Islamic Port with Port Sudan, with a capacity of up to 1,118 standard containers, said a Saudi Press Agency report.
Mawani said that the addition of this service reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s position in global performance indicators and raise the operational efficiency of Jeddah Islamic Port, in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. The strategy aims to establish the Kingdom as a leading global logistics hub connecting three continents.
Jeddah Islamic Port is one of the region’s largest ports, with a capacity of 130 million tons. It is equipped with advanced infrastructure that includes 62 multi-purpose berths, in addition to specialized terminals such as two container terminals, two general cargo terminals, docks for ship repair and marine maintenance, and facilities dedicated to marine services.
