New Esco tool ‘highly reliable’

Esco Tool has introduced a heavy-duty ID clamping pipe milling end prep tool that can bevel, face, and bore all hard pipe alloys including stainless steel, super duplex and P-91. It is highly reliable and easy to operate, making it ideal for use on oil platforms, the company says..

Esco’s Prepzilla Millhog ID clamping end prep tool has only one mandrel with eight sets of clamps for bevelling, facing, and boring hard alloyed pipes from 1.5" ID to 8.625" OD. Built for offshore pipe milling, this robust tool features dual-opposed tapered roller bearings, direct-drive gears, a rigid blade lock system and TiN coated T-15 tool steel cutter blades with a proprietary chip breaker that transfers heat away from the pipe surface.

Generating 1,500 ft lbs of torque at the cutting blade, Esco’s Prepzilla Millhog ID clamping end prep tool’s blade is held by a dual-threaded screw which doubles the force on the clamping surface for added rigidity. Powered by a 2 HP air motor, this pipe milling end prep tool is supplied complete with all clamp ribs and pads, a hose and filter, lubricator, and a metal carrying case.

Esco’s Prepzilla Millhog ID clamping end prep tool sells for $8,995.00 or can be rented in the continental US for $336 per week.

For over 50 years, Esco Tool has worked closely with end-users on the toughest tube and pipe cutting and end prep applications in the power generation and metalworking industries. Their experience has allowed them to invent and manufacture high quality, torque-free end prep tools that work efficiently and require no special operator training.

The Esco product line features their robust line of Millhog welding end prep tools and Panelhog air-powered saws and speciality mount systems, high-speed hand-held bevellers and accessories.

"Available for sale or rent, with 24 hour shipment, these tools are built tough and precision machined," a company spokesman said.
