One of the Middle East’s leading retail groups and operator of the Lulu hypermarkets, UAE-based EMKE Group, has introduced Ehrhardt + Partner (E+P) group’s warehouse management system (WMS) LFS 400 at its Bahrain warehouse.
The same system was introduced earlier at EMKE’s facilities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The solution at the 22,000 sq m Bahrain warehouse was realised by Ehrhardt + Partner Solutions (EPS) in Dubai which is part of the E+P group.
EMKE said LFS 400 complied with international logistic standards and significantly optimised the warehouse process.
EMKE was the first company in the Middle East to apply the award-winning WMS LFS 400.
The Bahrain warehouse is connected to the central machine in Abu Dhabi giving the retail group a total of 200,000 sq m storage with only one WMS.
LFS 400 is designed in a way that different warehouse sites in different countries can be connected with only one software installation.
EMKE said the latest technologies including Pick-by-Voice are also available at EMKE´s new warehouses.
“We chose LFS 400 as the preferable system due to its flexibility and easy-to-use customised solution which meets all the standards in our business. And with E+P’s global experience and German expertise we are confident of meeting and satisfying the requirements of our customers,” said Ashraf, executive director of EMKE.
Earlier, the Bahrain warehouse operated with no WMS and used only SAP as the ERP system. With LFS 400 it is now functioning in a very professional manner, EMKE said, adding there was high accuracy of inventory and picking.
“The system optimises utilisation of all warehouse resources such as employees, storage technology and materials handling,” said Hermann Ehrhardt, EPS managing director.
The warehouse is connected to a central IBM computer i5 which is located in the data centre in EMKE’s head office in Abu Dhabi.
The Ehrhardt + Partner Expert Group is represented by EPS based in Dubai and by sales, service and support partners in Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, among other places.
