Package: Sulaibiya Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion

Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of the Sulaibiya wastewater treatment plant expansion that will increase capacity at the site from 425,000 cu m per day to 600,000 cu m per day of wastewater. The Sulaibiya site houses two plants - a wastewater treatment plant and an ultra-filtration and reverse osmosis plant, which cleans effluent to drinking water standards.

Scope: Renovation of the drainage network in Bayan

OMAN
Package: Barka IWPP 3 - Power at Barka and Sohar and Desalination
Owner: Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (PWPC)
Budget: $1 billion (power portion) and $500 m (desalination portion)
Scope: The project calls for the design, build and operation (DBO) of two 650 MW power plants at Barka and Sohar with a capacity of 130,000 cu m per day of desalination, which are part of the third phase of the 1,300 MW Barka IWPP 3. The power plant is likely to be gas-fired.

Package: OWSC - New Darsait STP

Budget: $150 million
Scope: The project calls for the design and construction of a 50,000 cu m per day sewage treatment plant at Darsait in Oman.

Package: OWSC - Muscat Wastewater Project - Al Ansab - Phase 2

Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of a wastewater treatment plant in Al Ansab in the north of the governorate. The plant will have a capacity of 25,000 cu m per day.
Update: The project is still in the planning phase.
Package: OWSC - Muscat Wastewater Project - Al Amerat
Owner: Muscat Municipality
Budget: $55 million
Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of a wastewater treatment plant in Al Amerat in the central region of the Muscat governorate. The plant will have a capacity of 10,000 cu m per day.

QATAR
Package: Ashghal - Doha North Pumping Station and Pumping Mains - Phase 2
Owner: Public Works Authority (Ashghal)
Budget: $490 million
Scope: The project calls for the design and construction of a 900,000 cu m per day pumping station and laying of 45-km of pipeline with a diameter of 1.6 m in the north of Doha in Qatar. The station will be used to channel waste water from Doha to a treatment plant 25 km north of the city.
Update: The project is expected to be completed in March 2012.
Package: Headworks at Umm Salalah, Old Al Khor and West Bay Water Stations

Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of headworks at Umm Salalah, Old Al Khor and West Bay water stations in Qatar.
Update: The project is expected to be completed in December 2010.
Package: Duhail Water Station

Budget: $150 million
Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of a water station at Duhail. Scope of work will include two 21 million-gallon reinforced concrete (RC) reservoirs, four 25 million-gallon RC reservoirs, a pump house and 3,000 m of 1,200-mm-diameter rising mains. Work will also include a guardhouse, an accommodation building, a gas chlorination building, switchgear, a lagoon, a boundary wall and landscaping.
Update: Al Habtoor Group has been awarded the main contract.
Package: Qatar Power Transmission Network Phase 9 - 375 km underground cables
Owner: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation
Budget: $150 million
Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of 375km of underground cables at 400, 220, 132 and 66 kV levels for the ninth phase of the Qatar power transmission network at Doha.

Package: King Abdullah Economic City - Red Sea Village (Bay La Sun Village) - District Cooling

Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of two cooling stations in King Abdullah Economic City. The two cooling stations will be for residential and commercial buildings in Bay La Sun Village. The scope of work will include two district cooling plants with capacities of 37,500 and 40,000 refrigeration tonnes.

Package: SEC - Qassim II Substation 380 kV

Scope: The project calls for the supply and installation of a 380/132 kV substation in Qassim.
Update: Construction work on the substation is scheduled to be completed in December 2010.

Scope: The project calls for the rehabilitation of the Wadi Al Dawasir power plant in Saudi Arabia.

Package: PCIC - Shuaiba Petroleum Coke Plant - Phase 1

Budget: $150 million
Scope: The scope of work includes the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work for a 350,000 tpy plant in the Shuaiba industrial area. The plant will use 425,000 tonnes of crude coke to produce 350,000 tonnes of calcinated coke per year.
Update: Finishing work is in progress.
Package: Taweelah Aluminium Sm-lter Plant in Abu Dhabi - Phase 2
Owner: Emirates Aluminium Limited (Emal)
Budget: $2 billion
Scope: The project calls for the design and execution of the second phase of the Taweelah aluminium smelter plant in Abu Dhabi. The second phase will have a capacity of 700,000 tpy which will double the capacity of the first phase to 1.4 million tpy.
Update: Preliminary studies have been completed and all the technical parameters for phase two have been determined. The schedule for further development has not been determined.
Package: Jebel Ali STP Phases 2 to 4
Owner: Dubai Municipality
Budget: $1 billion
Scope: The project will involve the construction of a sewage treatment plant that will be situated to the south east of the Jebel Ali Lehbab road. The development, which will be executed in three phases, will boost the overall capacity to 1.2 million cu m per day. Phase 1 is 300,000 cu m per day. The plant will use an incineration unit for sludge disposal.
Update: The design work was completed in July 2009. A date is yet to be announced for issuing the tender for the main construction contract.
Package: Dewa - Hassyan Power & Desalination Plant (Station P) Phase 2 - Power and Desalination
Owner: Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa)
Budget: $1 billion (power); $500 million (desalination)
Scope: The projects call for the construction of a greenfield power generation plant and a desalination unit. Phase 2 will have a capacity of 1,500 MW of power and 120 million gpd of water. The first step of the expansion programme will be in two packages:
1) Power plant package P, consisting of gas turbines associated with heat recovery steam generators, auxiliary boilers, back pressure steam turbines and all associated works.
2) Desalination package D, consisting of multi-stage-flash desalination units, seawater pumps, drinking water pipes and all associated works. The combined capacity will be 3,000 MW of power generation and 200 million gpd of desalinated water. At the end of the multi-phase programme, there will be 9,000 MW of power and 600 million gpd of desalination in Hassyan and 5,000 MW in Lehbab.

Package: Hassyan Seawater Intake and Outfall System

Budget: $500 million
Scope: The project calls for the construction of a seawater intake and outfall system at the Hassyan power and desalination complex in Dubai. The scope of work includes:
1) onshore and offshore sections of the intake channel.
2) intake protection works comprising a fish/trash screen and oil slick protection; 3) the outfall system comprising an outfall chamber and means of transporting the discharge offshore; 4) boat house and boat lifting facilities; and 5) ancillary works including roads and lighting.

Package: Lulu Island Development Project - STP
Owner: Sorouh Real Estate Company
Budget: $200 million
Scope: The project calls for the design and construction of a 100,000 cu m per day sewage treatment plant to serve the Lulu Island development in Abu Dhabi.
Update: The facility is currently being planned. Construction is to start late in 2010. Commissioning will be in 2012.
Package: Fujairah - Al Ain Water Transmission Pumps
Owner: Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco)
Budget: $139 million
Scope: The project calls for pumping water from Al Fujairah to Al Jayer Zone in Al Ain City. The project also includes the construction of water storage tanks in Al Ain with a capacity of 25 million gallons.
Update: The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2010.
Package: Dubai Investment Park - 400/132 kV Substation

Budget: $122 million
Scope: The project calls for the construction and installation of a 400/132 kV substation. The substation is located in the Green Community in Dubai Investment Park.
Update: Construction work on the substation is scheduled to be completed in February 2010.
Package: RAKEEN - Marjan Island Development - STP
