TMI expanding capacity

Turk Mechanical Industries has capabilities in fabrication, casting, machining and engine rebuild

BAHRAIN-based Turk Mechanical Industries (TMI) Company, a specialist in fabrication, casting, machining and engine rebuild, is aiming to further strengthen its production capacity with a focus on increasing exports.

The company, which recently obtained the occupational health and safety standard (OHSAS) certification, is enhancing painting and blasting facilities in addition to installing three more three-axis CNC machines to meet increasing business orders.

“We’re setting up a new machining and fabrication plant where an overhead crane with 25-tonne lifting capacity will be installed,” said J Jeganmogaan, manager – administration.

The company is also hoping to expand the volume of fabrication and painting jobs by 50 per cent following the construction of an enclosed structure specially built for this purpose.

“Increased production will help us meet our new export target,” said Jeganmogaan.

Turk Mechanical is playing a key role in major projects in Saudi Arabia and other GCC states such as Oman, Kuwait and Qatar and supplies to many steel mills, cement mills and other small, medium and large factories.

It exports small and large fabricated spares parts and casting products to Ma’aden Aluminium Company, Saudi Arabia; Sohar Aluminium Company, Oman, and Emal and Dubal in the UAE.

The fastest moving among the export items are casting products including tapping tubes, said Jeganmogaan. “This year, we will be exporting operational spare parts for the aluminium smelter plant in Kitimat, Vancouver, Canada, which has been buying our products for the last one year.”

In Bahrain, Turk Mechanical is a major supplier to Alba, Bahrain Steel, Garmco, GPIC, Bapco, Asry and government projects. Turk Mechanical Industries is a specialist in all types of ferrous and non-ferrous castings, heavy and light fabrication, machining and engine re-building.

The fabrication workshop is capable of producing a range of products from cast parts to furnaces and pot shells for large industries, said Jeganmogaan, adding, “We execute gas pipeline installations, too.”

The company can design and produce tailor-made castings in stainless steel, brass, copper, iron and aluminium of up to 1,000 kg.

In the machining segment, it produces different types of gear including helical spur, chain sprocket, shaft gear and pulley.

Turk Mechanical has a fully equipped auto shop to provide services for overhauling engines. The auto shop’s capabilities include crankshaft grinding, cylinder block boring, and polishing, valve facing and seat cutting.
