Hansgrohe items impress

The Axor WaterDream, a prize-winning product

Showrooms across the Gulf have enabled households and projects to get acquainted with imported Hansgrohe bathroom fittings and showerheads for which the company has a sound global reputation.

Hansgrohe demonstrated how its innovative water saving products help consumers and developers easily use up to 60 per cent less water with its pioneering EcoSmart technology at the World Future Energy Summit 2014 (WFES), Abu Dhabi.

Invited to exhibit Hansgrohe products as part of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) stand in the Sustainable Living Expo, visitors were able to witness the highest quality in German engineering and latest visions towards sustainable bathroom design at the world’s foremost event dedicated to renewable energies, energy efficiency and clean technologies.

Hansgrohe recently became one of the first bathroom fittings and showerhead manufacturers in the region to be awarded the Trustmark for Environmental Performance by the QCC. Awarded for 11 of its products, including the Crometta 85 1jet Green Hand Shower and Raindance S 100 3jet EcoSmart Hand Shower, the Trustmark acts as a mark of quality for customers and shows that a specific product conforms to the various safety and performance requirements set by Abu Dhabi regulators.

Hansgrohe’s mixers and showerheads fitted with the EcoSmart technology consume up to 60 per cent less water than conventional products without any loss of comfort. Lower hot water consumption also means a reduced energy requirement, resulting in lower CO2 emissions and lower costs. Its mixers go beyond the minimum requirements set by Estidama, the sustainable building and construction standards authority in Abu Dhabi, to deliver 5 l/min, instead of the minimum 6 l/m.

Sophisticated flow limitation, special spray jets and the mixing of water with air also reduce water consumption down to either 6 or 9 l/min depending on the diameter of the shower, while offering lots of shower comfort and saving energy, as less water needs to be heated.

Dirk Schilmoeller, sales director Middle East for Hansgrohe, said: “At Hansgrohe, water is our passion, and it is our goal as manufacturers of mixers and showers to make these products as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible without any loss of comfort. We are delighted to have been welcomed by one of the UAE’s leading bodies for sustainability, the QCC, to showcase our pioneering EcoSmart products following our recent Trustmark certification award. We are also happy to have been given the opportunity to come down and connect with other developers and decision makers across the region that are at the forefront of driving sustainability.”

Winners of numerous awards throughout the world, the brand’s products stand for modern technologies, innovative design and a superlative level of functional quality. This explains the success of the brand as a market leader in the shower segment and as one of the leading manufacturers of fixtures. With inventions such as the shower bar, adjustable spray types, the QuickClean function, the AirPower or the EcoSmart technology, Hansgrohe is regarded as one of the leading innovators in the international sanitation industry.

AXOR LAMPSHOWER

The Raindance hand shower

The company’s Axor brand started off the new year by stunningly showcasing its latest products at the leading international furniture fair. At the imm cologne 2014, which took place last month in Cologne, Hansgrohe SE’s designer brand displayed its new shower products. Philippe Grohe, head of the Axor brand, personally introduced the innovative products, which were developed in conjunction with Swedish design trio Front and Japanese design studio Nendo. Featuring 1,100 suppliers from around 50 countries, imm cologne 2014 is regarded as a leading source of inspiration and ideas in the design and furnishings sector.

“With the Axor LampShower designed by Nendo, we have succeeded in opening up the traditionally isolated bathroom and turning it into a living space by adding an elegant furnishing accessory,” said Grohe. The fair was the perfect platform for Hansgrohe to present the options available for custom-designing the bathroom as a living space to architects and interior design experts from all over the world, he said. The Axor brand manager also took part in the “Design Talks” event at the fair – together with renowned German product designer Werner Aisslinger, who was named “Designer of the Year” at the event.

“While the Axor LampShower magically combines light and water, giving the bathroom a more homely feel, the new Axor ShowerProducts designed by Front focus on intuitive usability. They offer a completely new experience of the path that water takes into the bathroom, in its most original form, while adding an industrial charm to the shower,” a company statement said.

Meanwhile, the Axor WaterDream designed by Front has been named Best Shower by Wallpaper, the exclusive and internationally renowned design and lifestyle magazine. The award was presented in San Francisco. This is the second time that Axor has won the Wallpaper Design Award, which is presented annually: in 2011 it went to the Axor Bouroullec collection.

“The Wallpaper Design Award is a special distinction, and is confirmation of the success of our design process, from the initial concept right through to the finished product. It comes just a few days after the new Axor ShowerProducts won the ‘Interior Innovation Awards – Best of Best,’” said Grohe.
