The Kuwait Danish Dairy (KDD) Company will be converted from a limited liability company to a Kuwaiti closed shareholding company, a report said. The decision to change the legal status of the company was taken recently at a general assembly meeting, said a report in Arab Times.
Nearly 96 per cent of the company shareholders were present at the meeting, held under the auspices of Nashmiah Ali and Nada Al Utaibi of the the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Kuwait Danish Dairy Company was officially incorporated according to Article 90 of the company's Commercial Law of 1960. Over the years, KDD has been accepted as one of the leading dairy processing companies in the Middle East.
Its product range includes UHT milk, yoghurts, juices and tomato paste. Marketed under the KDD brand, the distinctive packaging is easily recognised by the checkerboard design and a logo featuring a cow.
With annual sales approaching the equivalent of $100 million, KDD has dominated the Kuwaiti market for dairy products and exports to a number of other countries in the Middle East.
The company operates two well-equipped processing plants and has a dedicated fleet of refrigerated vehicles to distribute its products throughout the country. "KDD' philosophy is to deliver value for money without compromising on quality.
Expanding sales volumes are supported by focused marketing programmes, but the company firmly believes that the quality of its product represents the best form of advertising," a company text states.
The general assembly elected a new seven-member board of directors for a period of three years. Bader and Co and PriceWaterhouse Coopers were appointed as auditors. Mohammad Ezzat Jaafar was elected the chairman and managing director of the company, Ahmad Yousuf Behbehani deputy chairman and Bahia Ezzat Jaafar the managing director for finance.
