Ultra Light-Weld 431 bonds well<!--top2-->

Dymax’s headquarters in Torrington, Connecticut (US)

Dymax Corporation has introduced Ultra Light-Weld 431, a versatile adhesive for glass-to-glass and glass-to-metal applications. This material has been formulated to be resistant to high-temperature and high-moisture environments while maintaining superior adhesion and flexibility. It was also designed with low shrinkage, which reduces stress on the bond line or on larger cured surfaces.

Ultra Light-Weld 431 bonds rapidly upon exposure to UV/Visible light for immediate use in the assembly process.  Ideal for assembly applications such as furniture, container glass, and lighting and appliance sub-assemblies, it’s designed for bonding glass and metal but can also be considered for bonding a wide variety of plastics as well as ceramic and FR4.

The MD 1193-M-SV05 needle bonder

The company also unveiled the MD 1193-M-SV05, a new medical-device adhesive, that cures tack-free quickly upon exposure to UV and/or visible light, eliminating the need for heat or secondary moisture cure on high-speed assembly lines. It’s designed to dispense rapidly and bond transparent or translucent polycarbonate, PVC, ABS, polyurethane, polystyrene and stainless steel typically used in the manufacture of syringes and needles. Its narrow viscosity range is ideally suited for high-speed, automated needle-assembly machines where batch-to-batch consistency is crucial. The product is available in 15-liter pail format to minimise equipment downtime and material changeovers.

MD 1193-M-SV05, formulated with Dymax’s patented Ultra-Red technology, fluoresces bright red under low-intensity “black” light (365 nm). The red fluorescence contrasts extremely well on plastics that naturally fluoresce blue in colour, and facilitates more accurate visual inspection of the bond-line area. The Ultra-Red fluorescence also produces a unique spectral signature that can be used by manufacturers for their product authentication. Dymax medical device adhesives contain no nonreactive solvents and are compatible with gamma, EtO, and E-Beam sterilisation.
