Scientechnic, a technology integrator and solution provider in the UAE, is currently in the process of delivering complete fire safety solutions to the Al Habtoor Residences project on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, according to a senior official.

Easa F Al Gurg, general manager, Scientechnic, also listed the New Deira Fish Market development of Dubai Municipality and Blue Waters residential buildings of Meraas as some of its other current projects.

Part of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, Scientechnic’s solutions in fire protection include design, supply, installation commissioning and maintenance with expertise ranging from fire detection to  fire fighting and sprinkler systems, the clean agent gas extinguishing system, emergency lighting and voice evacuation.

Scientechnic is an operation within the group’s Building Technologies Unit which is IMS certified and approved and licensed by the Dubai Civil Defence as an A+ category solutions provider.

Over the years, the company has provided equipment for major projects including malls, hospitals, five star hotels and data centres.

The company recently supplied a turnkey fire safety solution to Novo Cinemas, one of the largest and most visited chain of theatres in the Middle East. An expert team successfully completed the project design, supply, installation, programming, testing and commissioning of systems for firefighting, fire suppression, fire alarm and voice evacuation as well as a central battery and extra low voltage system for the project.

“We are … majorly involved in the construction sector. Due to the large platform of services offered, maintenance contracts across all segments also form a key part of our operations,” said Al Gurg.

Al Gurg: positioning Scientechnic as a one-stop shop

“There has been a steady growth in business for Scientechnic with many major clients. Our turnover has been increasingly steadily since 2011 and we have a healthy order booking for 2016, which includes certain key projects in Dubai.

“Scientechnic’s focus is to reach out to a wider clientele and offer complete solutions to meet the expectations from all concerned stakeholders. We are looking at positioning ourselves as a one-stop shop for quality products/solutions in the field of fire safety.”

The company says its key value proposition to clients is the Siemens Fire Finder XLS. This fire detection product is attuned to the elimination of false alarms. Some 90 per cent of the alarms are triggered by random incidents and only about 5 per cent of these are genuine. False alarms create inconvenience to residents and result in true emergency situations being ignored. 

Scientechnic operates a UL-listed clean gas filling station from Siemens. This station (FM-200 and Novec 1230) allows Scientechnic to offer quick deliveries to customers.

“The magnitude of fire is a key factor in all cases. Scientechnic’s solutions are geared towards early detection which is key to minimising damage and triggering early evacuation of the premises,” said Al Gurg.

He listed the top-performing products as the Addressable Fire Detection System and the clean agent (FM-200 and Novec 1230) gas-based extinguishing systems.

Recent fire emergencies in the UAE underline the importance of fire prevention and protection. In the first half of 2015, Dubai Civil Defence responded to 193 incidents, which represents an increment from 158 in the same period in 2014.

A major fire that broke out at The Address Downtown hotel in Dubai on New Year’s Eve also shone the spotlight on fire hazards.

“Following the increase of fire incidents in the UAE, it is essential for construction companies to ensure the implementation and maintenance of the correct fire-safety strategy,” Scientechnic said.
