New Hilti breaker stands out

Hilti TE 1000-AVR breaker: best of the lot

The new generation of the Hilti TE 1000-AVR breaker continues to impress with the product receiving earlier this year in Munich the iF Product Design Award for 2015.

One standout characteristic of the thoroughly revised version of the tool is HiDrive Technology, developed by Hilti and which delivers up to 50 per cent greater demolition performance; and it does this with the lowest vibration in its class (5m/s2). Lower vibrations allow the user to work with the tool for an even longer period of time.

While the Hilti TE 1000-AVR breaker won the gold award in its category, several other new Hilti tools received the coveted design award.

The jury evaluated the submissions according to design and ergonomic qualities as well as on the topics of innovation degree, safety, functionality and product quality. This year’s competition drew some 5,000 products from more than 50 countries.

“We are very happy that the interplay of form and function not only generates enthusiasm among our customers but also was able to withstand the critical scrutiny of the design jury,” said Hilti’s chief designer, Stephan Niehaus.

Hilti Breaker TE 1000-AVR second generation takes demolition performance to a new level. When paired with the new Wave chisel TE-SP, the TE 1000-AVR delivers up to 50 per cent more demolition performance with the lowest vibration in its class.

Applications include demolishing concrete and masonry at floor level or below waist level, renovating floors of all kinds, removing tiles, bushing and compacting; corrective chiseling such as adjustments to door and window openings and powerful breaking performance thanks to exceptional impact energy and innovative Hilti Polygon chisel design.

One of the new TE 1000-AVR’s advantages is the lowest vibration values in its class thanks to Hilti’s innovative subchassis Active Vibration Reduction (AVR) system. It has maintenance-free brushless SR motor and triple-chamber lubrication systems for longer service intervals and tool lifetime and the Inline design allows for easier handling in demanding breaking applications.

The product is also equipped with a detachable supply cord for quick and easy exchange of damaged/broken supply cords. An optional feature is the TE DRS-B dust removal system that collects up to 95 per cent of dust.

The latest Hilti honours come in the wake of a prominent win it achieved last year. Its  new TE 70 combihammer family of tools received the highest product design award in the Red Dot’s Industry category, taking home the “Red Dot Award: best of the best”. The international jury of experts also gave honours to the TE 30-ATC combihammer, two laser range meters, a multi-line laser and a magazine for drywall screwdrivers.

The product design criteria were based on degree of innovation, functionality or ergonomics and their emotional content.
