BAHRAIN-based Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has reported record production for the first half of the year. The petrochemical company saw its total exports of ammonia, urea and methanol hit 557,000 tonnes for the period.

The company reported an increase of two per cent in ammonia production amounting to 227,000 tonnes, an increase of 3.5 per cent in methanol production to 225,000 tonnes and an increase of 7 per cent in urea output to 360,000 tonnes.

GPIC president Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery said production processes saw many significant improvements that contributed to the good production rates. “Export operations are also going smoothly and completely unhindered according to the marketing plan and contractual obligations,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the company has secured the ISO 17025:2005 quality standard certification. It identifies the high technical competence and management system requirements that guarantee that the company’s test results and calibrations are consistently accurate.

 This is proof that the company’s laboratory operations match international standards in testing and examination of products to ensure compliance with the highest degree of health and safety, the company’s technical services manager Khalid Al Benali said.

The certification is expected to remove technical obstacles to the commercial exchanges and sale of the company’s products to various countries.

Dr Jawahery said the company remained committed to achieving excellence in business, operations and quality systems.
