Big 5 Preview

AT THE Big 5 2011, it was all about the product; this year it is even more so. As the Middle East’s largest event for the building and construction industry, The Big 5 will now fill the entire venue at Dubai World Trade Centre, hosting more than 2,300 exhibitors from 64 countries. The event is expected to be attended by some 32,000 visitors.






PMV Live 2012 is set to build on the highly successful re-launch last year, which saw the event redefine itself in the plant, machinery and vehicles industry.






SWITZERLAND returns to The Big 5 this year with two pavilions for the first time, determined to cover any lost ground due to its absence in 2011. The country has been hosting a national pavilion regularly every year at the premier show from 2000 to 2010. “There was no official Swiss participation in 2011 due to the lack of interested companies.






INDIAN building materials exporter Mohan Mutha Exports intends to tap the potential offered by The Big 5 show to gain new clients and extend its brand reach in the regional market, when it makes its first appearance at the Dubai show. Mutha Exports’ forte lies in the export of construction and infrastructural raw materials and fittings.






SMALL and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the north Italian province of Vercelli will be showcasing their expertise in the mechanical sector under the banner of Asfim, a special agency of the Vercelli Chamber of Commerce.






A NEW-age building product that combines the benefits offered by glass and ceramic will be introduced by the Italy-based Gruppo Colorobbia when it makes its debut at The Big 5 show this year. “This new material – Yalosker – is basically a new generation of ceramic glass that opens new frontiers,” says a company spokesman.






A REGULAR participant at The Big 5 shows in the region, DuctSox Mena will continue its tradition of bringing innovative products from its US manufacturing plant to the Middle East market at the leading event in Dubai this year.






FRAMECAD Solutions has been hosting bigger stands year-on-year at The Big 5 show since 2006, reflecting the growth in the region of the New Zealand-headquartered company, a world leader in light steel frame (LSF) construction technology.

ALL METALS Engineering, a regular participant at The Big 5 show in Dubai for more than 15 years, intends to use the networking platform provided by the event to gain exposure to international clientele.






DURA Composites, a global supplier of high-strength, low-weight composite products, will be hard to miss at this year’s Big 5 show.






DUPONT Building Innovations will showcase at The Big 5 show a range of products, solutions and technologies for architecture, interior design, building, construction and infrastructure, which have been developed to provide sustainable building solutions and superior performance.






CO.ME, an Italian specialist in high-end quality tools for the masonry and paints industry, will be making its debut at The Big 5 show.
