DBMT setting up base in Hamriyah

True to its reputation as a hub for the steel trade, another player in the sector has set up a base in the free zone

March 2016

UAE-based Dayal Building Material Trader Limited (DBMT) is set to start its operations from Hamriyah Free Zone this month.

Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, director of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone), and Dinesh Moorjani, managing director of DBMT, recently signed a lease agreement.

“We have leased 55,000 sq m of land in the Phase 2 area. We will start logistics and storage facilities operations by March this year and open a steel fabrication facility by 2017. We have plans to invest Dh20 ($5.45 million) to 25 million for this project,” Moorjani said after the signing ceremony.

With a strong presence in the GCC, DBMT, a leading structural steel distributor in the UAE, covers some steel markets including Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the US and Europe.

“We welcome DBMT to our fraternity. Our goal is to create a robust business environment by meeting the needs and demands of our investors,” said Al Mazrouei.

“In the steel industry, HFZA is one of the market leaders in the Middle East.  The regional industry consists of fabrication yards and engineering workshops and thus, the steel industry is very important to Hamriyah Free Zone. We have been developing this sector for over a decade and today a number of well-established steel firms are operating within our zone,” Al Mazrouei added.

DBMT has been successfully catering to the needs of the structural steel market in the Middle East since 1981 with a group turnover of more than 150,000 tonnes across the GCC. DBMT also has manufacturing facilities in Jebel Ali Free Zone.

While elaborating on his business, Moorjani said his firm supplied steel to the oil and gas sector as well as EPC contracts, steel fabricators and contracting companies.
