Rollc’s hi-tech shutters win good response

November 2011

ROLLC Company for Automatic Doors and Security Systems, has recently launched two new products – acoustic shutters and insulated fire-rated shutters – which have been well-received by the market, according the Saudi Arabia-based company.

“We are probably the only local producers of acoustic shutters in the region,” said Ahmed Al Buraidi, general manager. “The recent launch of these products is in line with our goal of providing the best products to meet the requirements of the Saudi and Gulf markets, while adopting the standards set by international laboratories and most government agencies.”

Rollc has applied American and European technology to manufacture these products, which have a two-hour fire rating for insulated shutter doors, certified two months ago by leading testing authorities. This is in addition to the previous Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certificates for two and three hours for non-insulated shutters. The acoustic shutter has been certified by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Programme (NVLAP), while the insulated fire-rated shutter carries the UL label. Rollc has also received ISO 9001 certification.

Both the acoustic shutters and insulated fire-rated shutters have been installed in major projects in Saudi Arabia such as Princess Nora University (PNU) and King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh, Ministry of Interior projects, and technical colleges.

Rollc Company is currently working with its partners to develop new products in the field of industrial and security doors and PVC shades. “We have new products in the industrial and security sectors, which are currently in the testing phase, while the fabrication of a new type of tensile fabric structures will start in February next year,” he said.

The company diversified into the tensile fabric structures sector over a year ago, and has since supplied to many projects such as car-park shades at the PNU and KAFD, an umbrella shade at the PNU, and a security project. In addition, Rollc Company has been involved in a number of major projects for hotels, palaces and villas such as the Holiday Inn and Diplomat Hotel, both in Riyadh, where it supplied road barriers; and housing projects such as the Khurasania Aramco Housing.

Rollc Company develops its products in partnership with internationally-reputed companies so it can compete effectively in the market and offer products that are designed for the region, said Al Buraidi. It also provides services and technical training support to customers within Saudi Arabia and in the region.

Meanwhile, the Riyadh-based firm has recently boosted its product portfolio by entering into a partnership with the Italian company, Rise, which specialises in the production of retractable bollards and road barriers. Other major international companies it represents are Elaktromaten and Efaflex of Germany; Cab and Sea of Italy; Tormax of Switzerland and Thermalex of Canada.

Since its inception in Riyadh in 2000, Rollc Company has provided services to hundreds of clients all over Saudi Arabia and internationally with a comprehensive range of industrial and commercial security systems, which include automatic barriers, road blockers, tyre killers, turnstiles, bollards, and under-car carriage scanners.

It also specialises in the manufacture, design and installation of aircraft hangar doors, blast-resistant doors, bullet-proof doors, rolling shutters, automatic doors and gates as well as security systems.

The company is now looking at expanding its reach both regionally and internationally. Towards this end, Rollc Company, which has branch offices in Jeddah and Dammam, is planning to open new showrooms and offices in the region in 2012.
