Bahrain Aluminium Extrusion Company (Balexco) has been awarded a renewal of its ISO 9001:2008 standard and Quality Management System by Bureau Veritas, a Balexco statement said.

The accolade came after a rigorous audit of its operation and supporting departments to confirm compliance to the requirements of the standard, the statement said.

This ongoing renewal, which is valid through to September 2018, provides an assurance to customers and those companies dealing with Balexco that its products and services being provided are in line with an internationally recognised standard for quality management.

Jassim Mohammed Seyadi, chief executive officer, was presented with the renewal ISO 9001:2008 certificate by Zulfiqar Haider, Bureau Veritas country chief executive, Bahrain, at a ceremony last month.

Present were Balexco’s senior technical services manager Ali Ghuloom Abbas, plant executive manager Garry Martin and chief financial officer Mohammed Nizar as well as Bureau Veritas certification manager Mohsin Baig.

Balexco operates four presses and has total capacity of more than 33,000 tonnes per year. The architectural sector accounts for most sales with the industrial segment following. Typically most sales come from the GCC region.

In 2012 Balexco installed an anodising line of capacity 6,000 tonnes, replacing a 4,000 tonnes per year facility. The company has a remelting and casting plant of capacity 12,000 tonnes annually and a 6,000 tonnes per year powder coating line.
