Bahrain’s Gulf Fibreglass Factory, a prominent supplier to projects in the home market and also an exporter, expects to secure contracts for key projects in Bahrain.

The company says its main selling point is capability in manufacturing tailor-made products that can weather extreme temperatures.

Project manager Mayur Karekar said a contract it is keen on securing involves replacement of concrete surfaces in a theme park with fibreglass material.

“These materials are longlasting and bio-degradable,” said Karekar, adding, they can withstand high temperature and have UV protection.

The company also plans to execute a major restaurant project where it will build the entire seating in GRT composite material.

Karekar said the company exports finished products to Saudi, Qatar, Jordan, Yemen and Kuwait, where its skilled workmen carry out onsite installation.

“Qatar’s Barwa was one of the overseas projects where we played a key role,” Karekar said.

With its production facilities in the Sitra industrial area of Bahrain, Gulf Fibreglass Factory manufactures portable toilets, bath tubs (acrylic), water tanks, shower trays (acrylic), litter bins and trolleys, enclosures, water tanks, shades, canopies, water cooler enclosures, liners and sealing plates, water meter boxes, drainage covers, security guard cabins, and chemical storage tanks.

Karekar highlights that products made by Gulf Fibreglass enjoy lifelong durability, require no repairs and are safe and chemical- and water-proof.

The company has the expertise to customise products to the most demanding client specifications, it says.

Some of the key projects it completed in Bahrain include fibreglass fencing with wooden finish and garden benches at Al Areen Park and the supply and installation of the Buhair Mosque dome.

The mosque project was particularly memorable. Kalekar said it took four months to build the dome which comprised six components and another month to install it. About 25 workers were involved in the installation process, he recalled.

Other Bahrain projects in which the company played a key role included the Sail Monument in the Diplomatic Area, the Bahrain Map at Tubli and camel sculptures for Lulu, Hidd Park and City Centre.
