SAINT-GOBAIN PAM has signed two contracts with Qatar’s Al Jaber Engineering worth a total of €200 million ($268 million) for the supply of large-diameter pipes, fittings and valves.

The products will be mainly manufactured in France, a StockMarketWire.com report said. The contracts are part of the “security mega reservoirs” project managed by Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), which aims to provide the country with a seven-day emergency supply of drinking water.

The reservoirs will be among the biggest in the region. The mega storage facilities will be based in Umm Birka, Umm Salal, Al Thumama, Rawdhat Rashid and Abu Nakhla. The reservoirs will have an integrated network to link Doha with different parts of the country, said a report in the local press. The project is proposed to be completed in two phases. The first is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2016. The second phase will commence shortly after the commissioning of the initial phase and is expected to be completed by 2020.
